Thread: Need some Advice on where to spend Skills for dabbling in CM, if I was a M. Doctor.

I'm trying to make a support character. I want him to be pure support, no damage. I have no clue what CM does or Doctor.

I'm thinking of going to Master Doctor for buffs and heals. I'm also thinking of going to CM since I heard you guys are the only ones that can heal from a distance.

SO what should I get from CM? I would like to use as little points as possible. There might be a patch coming where a profession will be able to heal/buff mind (squad leader, or entertainer). So I would like to get as much range healing as possible without spending too many skill points.

I'm thinking more along the lines of Stim-Bs of novice medics but can be used from a distance. StimBsheal pretty good and you only need novice medic to be able to use them.

So what do you guys think I should spend my points on? What tree do I need? What is the best / minimum / average Range heals?

If you're not headed for the top in this field, you may want to reconsider. In my experience, you will need some points invested on every branch of the tree in order to be an effective CM. Many other professions are still useful if you only go up one tree, but for this one, you need crafting, range AND speed, as well as a bit of use... In other professions you could probably just go up one tree, but for this one you will defintely need a bit of all 4.

Thats not true at all for what he is doing.

Only the higher level poisons really need a Master CM. If all he wants is some decent ranged healing, then he should easily be able to accomplish that without going master.

What he needs is to go up to at least the third skill box under CM support. This will give him acces to Ranged C stims. If you go up to the 4th Support box, you will get the AoE B stims, which are pretty good if made with advanced components and a little experimentation. Then put any remaining skill points in the range tree branch.

Summary: Go up the support branch all the way, then focus on range as much as you can.

Even for a strictly support character, there are other things out there besides doctor and combat medic. How about entertainer? Or some artisan skills so that you can gather the resources you'll need? Or some scout skills so that you can harvest from animals. There's a lot of stuff out there, even for a support character. Sometimes, dabbling is a good thing.

Personally, I think I'm going to go the path of master doctor, partial combat medic. Master doctor is great for the enhancement packs - you just can't beat em. I can already heal anyone to full health (even if they're buffed) with my stims, but I've gotta be awfully close to do it. Some combat medic skills would be nice, but it seems expensive to spendthat many skill points to be able to heal at a distance. Even if all you do is climb the combat medic support tree, you'll have to spend 20 skill points. Add some more for any crafting or bonuses to range that you'd like to have. I'm really contemplating whether or not I want to go that route.

Just some more ideas for you from the perspective of a master doctor, rather than a master combat medic.

I'm saving some skill points in the future so I can dabble in a profession that can heal mind.

Is it possible to just get range healing and not take the crafting? If I can buy range stim-Cs rather than craft themthen I can save some skill points.

Let's say I only want Range Stimpack-C.

What do I need to be able to use them? How much "combat medicine use" do I need?

Should I get healing distance or healing speed? Or maybe I shouldn't bother.

you will only need the third CM support skill in order to use Range C's

After that, put your points into distance
