I just got novice CM a couple of days ago and I am confused. I hope someone here can enlighten me a bit. First question, is the poison that a novice can make just for use on people or can I use it on animals as well? Does it poison an area or just the target?? How about the people in my group and myself, are we ammune?? Also about the ranged stims. Im hoping to make myself a nice crate of them tonight but need some details. Do they effect the area or just the target? What is the range on them. Just some noob questions and any help would be appreciated. Planning a Yavin trip this weekend and want to go in prepared.

"A" level single poisons only affect your target.

There are two types of poisons and ranged stims. Single shot and area affect. You will not be able to make the area stuff until your much higher in the crafting and the Support branches. The range on the A level stims is short, 10 m or so, and they only affect one person.

A and B level ranged stims are pretty worthless, so I would just try and grind past them to get the C level Ranged stims and the B level area stims. They are much better.

Sekot,

Your singles will have a range statistic...say 10. Multiply that buy 1+CM Med use and that is the effective range you can throw. Singles hit one target. Areas can be thrown as listed above and then hit for the area listed.

Do not fear that you will roast your friends with an AOE poison...magically it only can hit things you can TAB to. However, do be aware in places like Coronet that includes CorSecs and other things that won't be happy with you if it's done.

Since the AOEs are dependent upon support (cm med use) and to make them you need crafting. Work your support and crafting first. Leave distance and speed for later. Soon as you can do AOE StimBs...go some some Tusken Fort hunts as dedicated healer throwing AOE and ranged stims. Great experience not only from medical perspective but it's also a great primer at getting used to tending a group in tight quarters and in hair situations.

OUCH!!! Thanks for the replies, looks like Novice isn't really worth it. I had enough points left to either take Doctor or CM knowing I would have to give it up later. I have also heard that the poisons dont usually hit the first time. Hmmm well thanks much for all the replies. I might be better just sticking with master medic.

a ranged stim A will not heal anything close to a regular StimC or an advanced StimB

All the power of a CM comes at master. I always recommend to everyone to either be a dedicated CM or not at all.

Also, Potency in poisons is roughly the percentage stick rate. Potencyfor level A poisons is usually pretty crappy, so that is where the rumor about them not sticking is coming from. Make an A level poison with near 100 Potency and watch it stick more.
