Thread: Only one profession uses more Skill points then we do and yet we are still ignored
yes
and both of those other two proffessions had a lot more balance problems, and a lot more players. We will get our fixes, its just taking a while. Hopefully we will get some stuff fixed in the next big publish that is coming soon.
How long does it take to correct a couple of typos in schematics/required use skill?
and the ARC schematic? This one's been here since beta I believe.
Hold on a sec, guys. I've been fighting pretty hard to make sure we try to get the Medical Professions some attention, so don't get me wrong that this is an issue near and dear to my heart. However, the Devs have publically acknowledged that they screwd up on this one, offered some suggested actions they can do (based on the feedback they have gotten from the forums) to improve communication and, after a short delay, they have started to get the ball rolling there.
There is a Correspondent forum going now and as I have mentioned communication there has gotten started, which is a LOT more than we had before. While it may not be completely public (and I agree with the reasons for that) I have been trying to post here anything that I can about what's been going on. Just look at the top of the thread. A Red Name may not have posted what it is that we should see in the next Publish or two, since it was just me doing it, but rest assured that what I say up there about what is being looked at, is in fact being looked at and I got that information from the Dev for the Medical Professions (amongst other things), Ben Hanson.
Both of the things you mention are listed in those notes as on the fix list,, BUT, and this is a big one to remember here, that means we will see them fixed either in this publish (probably within the next 2 weeks) or the next publish about a month after that (say 8-10 weeks, tops.) That means we just have to be patient about seeing the changes come down, but at least we do KNOW now that they are aware of the problems and that they are working on them.
The reason they can't just Hotfix these in should be pretty apparent considering all the problems we had int eh first couple of months with other hotfixes that just didn't get as fully tested as they needed to be. So while I am all for making sure we do get heard, I'm also saying that we need to see if we can give the communications channels they have started to open a chance to work. \
We are all frustrated with some of the problems here. At least you can rest assured that at least some of these are definitely getting addressed. How do you know? Because I, or some other correspondent, is letting you know. Now if this doesn't work, I'll be right there at the front of the line screaming just as loud as anyone else about it. Just understand the need for a little patience now that we have seen that these are getting addressed to at least some degree. (Want mroe details, look at the top of the forum. The thread is floated up there.)
How can you ever hope to fix a combat system that has a pool that can be hit for massive amounts of damage, but can't be healed.
Nothing to see here, go be a Commando or a CH.

What does it matter if a doctor can cure poison when you're hit with eyeshot, head shot, or oh my god I'm on fire in the middle of the desert again shot?
EQ still has typos that was present in the release, so don't hold your breath.
Binaa
PS
Since i quit half a year ago they just might have been fixed by now, you never know!

Dear Zarlor,
It's not that we don't believe your word, we do. It's that we can see nerfs being pushed out to live right away, but corrections to typos on schematics taking.....let's see, 2 months into the game now, and the proposed changes in another 8-10 weeks. 4 months to fix typos!
4 months of having our most advanced abilities limited by typos!
I understand about getting changes tested, but typos? How long does it take to check to see if the Area B poison no longer has a 600 skill to use? How much testing by how many people will that take? Other changes, sure, I can understand testing, and I can understand the priorities, but we don't buy that for the typo fixes.
Sorry for the negativity, it's not directed at you at all. It's just you are the only voice we have right now. I hate it when my bullsheet detector starts beeping like this!
Please see if there is anything you can do.
Oh, I hear you there. Believe me in many ways I agree. I wouldn't think chaning a 13 to a 3 would blow up enough code to have to worry about causing problems. But it's more likely that when the guy goes in to fix that typo, he may have other changes going to that who module of code at the same time. So we get stuck with the fact that any other changes in that module might screw over the game if they were done wrong.
I have noticed, at least, that recently they've even slowed down on the nerfing they've been doing in Hotfixes, so that's some consolation. It's been a rocky start, to say the least. I know I'm not completely happy with the situation and I happen to like that game for the most part. But I did want to toss out that our biggest complaint to date had been that we had no clue if any of our issues were even being heard! At least we have some acknowledgement of them.
I will say, though, that I don't think having to wait a month for a change is unreasonable. Having to wait 4 months to get this particular one, though.... Yeah, a hard pill to swallow, but it IS getting done and I don't think there is anything more we can do about it to make it go faster. Heck evenif our Dev wanted it to go right away I know that he's still got approval processes the whole darned thing has to go through and some manager would probably just shoot him down anyway saying that SOE has already gotten enough scars from pushing out Hotfixes.
So I'm just tossing out the other side of the coin.
As for what I can do... all I can do is post the issues and bring up the topics. Beyond that, my hands are tied. Even moreso with these being CM issues and not Doc issues since I'm not the CM correspondent. All Ican do is try, but when all is said and done, it's just the typing of a lone player like a raindrop in a thunderstorm. No guarantees about my being able to achieve anything here.
All I can do is give the process a try. But I am willing to give it some time to work, and I expect that time to take a month, maybe even two, to really get rolling. If things aren't improving by then, It'll be time to raise Caine about getting something better in place.
