Thread: Combat Medics in PvE?
Greetings everyone, I recently deleted my last character (I wasn't happy with the choices he had made)I am now in the process of working up another one. The combat medic profession has always interested me, so I am thinking about mastering CM, and supplementing it with variouspistol/scout skills. My only concern is that I've had folks tell me that CM is primarily a PvP profession, and not so good in PvE. Since I don't particularly enjoy PvP at all, this is a problem. I kind of pictured my new character as a healer who can support the main damage dealers in a big game hunting party. I think it would be fun, almost like a mage/cleric in fantasy games.
My question to you all is this: Is combat medica viable class for someone who plans to PvE only?
Thanks in advance guys.
I've found that if you poison something and shoot at it, you get the same amount of weapon xp as if you were only using the weapon.
I've also found that if you poison something without doing any weapon damage, you dont' have permission to loot.
I think Combat Medics are not so good at SOLO PvE.
Our poisons dont seem to work so good at low level mobs, and we usually dont have the skill points to get good at any of the ranged weapons, so large mobs overpower us.
If your looking to play a support role as a healer, I would suggest a hybrid CM/Doc.
A good template would be something like:
Combat medic (4-0-4-4) Doctor (2-4-3-0)
that will give you excelent ranged healing, resusitation, cure poison/disease, andHAM statbuffing.
You can always drop the crafting skills and buy your meds from others.

I disagree with most people. I think health poison + pistoleerskills + good non CH pet is a good combination for PvE. If you are looking for a commando style insta kill you'll be disappointed, but it is helpful.
agreed.
Make sure you don't do somehting silly like surrendering your pistol/carbine exp - otherwise you will be totaly at the mercy of the group.
Wow, thanks for all the replies guys. It seems this board is friendlier than most. ![]()
I'm glad to know that I can still PvE with a CM. I don't care if I get uber-damage one shot kills, nor do I care if I can solo rancors/krayts/whatever big nasty critters. As long as I won't be totally useless in PvE scenarios, I'll be happy. I have a long way to get to Novice CM, but I'll be joining you guys someday soon I hope.
Even in groups, a targeted poison can help bring down a big mob much faster. You just have to be very careful if the group is lacking healers that you don't poison at the expense of keeping people alive (so use the poison early in the combat).
The only balancing factor for CM is complicated schematics and many stat requirements for resources (and some broken schems). If you have great meds and while death costs nothing in game, master CM is truly broken profession for PvE. Without any silly pets andat-st'ssolo ANYTHING. They who think CM is only a support - i laugh at them. Sure he can be only support, but he can be the true power of group. As of PvP - just read general SWG Forum. Area poison - you win. When iput onmaster CM title and declare myself, around 50% rebels just pass anddont touch me first. Other die fast ![]()
But as i said, meds are more complicated than doctor's and good resources are much rare (at least on Eclipse). And many broken schems.
