Thread: Poison effectiveness

Let me just start by admitting that I am not a Master Combat Medic...yet. I want to be, I like the class, I collect resources for it but it seems somewhat out of balance with regards for PvE. Specifically, poisons seem to not do enough damage per tic to be effective largely because they appear to be balanced towards PvP. Based on some posts I saw last week about what poisons do per tic (I saw numbers ranging from 500-1000) I was, as a mostly PvE player, underwelmed. I noticed I could do those numbers with bleeds. I wanted to collect some further info because I feel somewhat strongly that CM poisons, especially at master level, should be stronger than they are. Specifically I feel poisons should be stronger because:

-they require master level elite class to use.

-they require considerable expense, resources.

-they are 1-use items.

What I did was collect info on Healthshot1 and Healthshot2 which are health bleeds done by pistols. Since they are from pistols, they are the weakest bleeds in the game. What I did was use a very average Republic Blaster (60-200 @ 2.5) and slap on a powerup of 30% max/15%min damage to make my pistol 69-262. It is important to note I could have further increased the size of these bleeds by using a damage sliced pistol. I made a macro that was /healthshot1;healthshot2;/peace. I hit some mobs and noted the numbers that popped off them. I used huurton howlers on Dantooine as my test subjects. I hit each puppy with a bleed, recorded the numbers, killed it then bled another. I collected 10 sets. The first number is HS1 and the second is HS2.

379/473
539/444

404/577 average, combined 981

What is important to note here is anyone with novice pistoleer, a pistol and a powerup can do this. 981 per tic. What I think is that poisons need to be adjusted for their effectiveness in PvE (and increase of 3-4x) and then subject to the 75% reduction.

I completely agree. You'd be stunned at how much some of the other weapons can bleed for. You also have to consider the amount of points used to get CM. And the number of resources required to make our poisons.

Also consider that they can hit you with a bleed for 350. If they don't like it, they can hit you with the same bleed until it hits a number they like and it will tick at that amount. IE I use Healthshot 1. I shoot 3 times. It hits for 350, 625, and 470. The bleed uses the highest damage so it will tick at 625.

Considering the amount of points to be a Master CM, you would expect to see a little more umph in the profession.
