Thread: Food and Chem crafting tool question
I was told that having a + number would help improve crafting success and experimentation success.....
But if it really does that or not, I dunno.
yes the effectiveness does matter when experimenting so having a tool with + is better but the difference is not that noticeable between about +3 and +15(max)
another thing to keep in mind is that food/chem crafting stations also have effectiveness rateing and it also scales up to +15 on them too.

It is hard to tell the effectiveness but your initial assembly will be affected. The first screen will have more amazing or good successes.
Also, like Makarish says crafting stations also have a rating but he is incorrect that they only go to 15. They go up much higher than the tools. Right now the one in my house is a 33.48 and the architect who made it has a 38+ one. I have heard of them as high as 42.

I have heard people yelling that they had crafting stations of +43.
There are people on Intrepid making +41's that I've read about. I just wish they were portable.
I just bought some new crafting tools, because I finally got wise to the situation. I had 3 tools I had made when I had NA & ENG IV, but they all had negative ratings. Now I have 4 Food/Chems that are +7 and it still doesnt make a difference it seems.
When I make Solid Delivery Shells, I use some 900+ Rice and some pretty good copper. It still gives me between +25 and +28 on the experimentation, so I'm unsure that the new tools helped there.(Is it just the high OQ, Mal, and PE thats giving me a high rating and the tool really doesn't effect it?)
The feedback I've gotten i the pursuit of these tools are that the type of ingredients are important to the station. 450 metal and 50 minerals are required. Further, the bonus on the tool/station as I have been informed is 100% dependent upon the conductivity of the metal used (as minerals do not have conductivity).
Whether right or wrong, the guidance I've been given is that metals wtih conductivity of around 850 would yield at best a +25 table, and that advanced docs/cms should be on the lookout for conductivity metals of 950 and above if you want a high bonus table made.
I have similar questions on what exactly it benefits and not, though wtih my experience I have had much less crit fails using my +22 station than public ones. Hope to have a better station tonight.

The highest rating on a crafting tool is +15, the highest rating on a crafting station is +45.
If you find a tool at +14.94, that's about the best you can get, and any master artisan can make it, if they use the right resources.
For the crafting stations, +42 to +43 is the best. Your experimentation is affected by these ratings.
Also, when looking at your resources that you will craft with, look for overall quality of 800 or above, and for organics, high potential energy, and for inorganics, high mallaebility. These all affect the quality of the produced items.
