Thread: Idea for solving the surveying resource problem of medical classes

An interesting idea, but Ibelieve that it willbe too difficult for the Devs to code. Being able to sample for the resources used for advance components would be nice, but wewould still need an artisan to get the "filler" organics and inorganics used in our final products (unless you're insane enough to waste adv comps). If this ability also allows us to sample for "filler" material, then we've just infringed on the artisan class.
While I would love to get back the 15 skill points for novice artisan, this idea will not promote the Dev's concept of classdependency. In short, just suck it up and keep novice artisan or pay someone else to gather/survey resources like the rest of us. ![]()
Xmagusx, I believe that the medical forage command was intended to be used as a last resort for gathering comps, and not as a replacement for artisan survey/sample.
Or... maybe I've just became desensitized to this whole thing.
No, it was actually uesful at one point in Beta (to some extent.) The Devs acknowledged that Medics really did need some form of self sufficency (and there are many reasons why you'd ned this at least every nbow and then, even in a multi-player game, and consdier that we already REQUIRE interdependcy, since we cannotget XPby healing either ourselves or our pets.) However at the time to make a A packs all you needed were 3 different organics. So /medforage actually worked and did something. You could actually make something with what you got. A week or two later they changed the schematics and it became utterly worhtless. From that point on they were too worried aobut "Game Breaking" bugs to be abot to bother going back and seeing how they screwed up their method of letting us get the resources we needed.
So there you have it. We were supposed to hat at least a semi-useful way of gathering resource needs, but they had it messed over with a last minute change.
Yep I would happily buy resource hunter driods to do my searching for me. Similar to the hunter droids used by Bounty Hunters. Maybe when youstart it upit can list the resources on the plantet, you choice the resource for it to go after and it seeks it within a set radius maybe 2.5km or something (an example nothing more). The probe could come back with a one unit and a location of the highest of that type of resource it found within its operating radius.
It would a be s similar thing to what they have done with Creature Handlers, Bio Engineers and Pet stims. Giving a class a needed avenue of ability without having to use extra skill points in a career that is unnessecary for them. It would also give Driod Engineers more customers.
Ideally I would like a survey skill built into novice medic instead - or medical forage reworked into someing useable given that the majority of resources for medics are needed in largish quantitie. I cannot forsee much in the of change in that respect and since they demonstrated a willingness to reach the compromise they have with the Creature Handers not requiring medical skills to use Pet stims from a Bio Engineer maybe they can reach the same aggreement with Medics, Driod engineers and resource seeker driods.
