Thread: Info about Mind Heal

I manage the Doctor FAQ for the other forum and, as there is so much overlap between Doctors and Combat Medics,I could really use some information about the new Mind Heal skill that Combat Medics have (as I'm a doctor, but not a combat medic).

  • What skill must you acquire in order to perform a mind heal?

  • What is the result of performing such a heal?

  • How much damage do you heal?

  • How bad are the wounds that are inflicted?

  • Which pools sustain the wounds?

  • Can you use mind heal on yourself or only on others?

Thanks.

  • What skill must you acquire in order to perform a mind heal? Ranged Healing Speed 4

  • What is the result of performing such a heal? You take wounds and your targets mind damageis healed. It seems to be limited to 7m range too

  • How much damage do you heal? Random, I've healed as little as 600 to as much as 1350 mind damage

  • How bad are the wounds that are inflicted? about 40-45 wounds

  • Which pools sustain the wounds? Focus, Will and Mind

  • Can you use mind heal on yourself or only on others? Only on other PCs, Faction pets, Creature pets. I haven't tried ATSTs but I doubt you could heal them

At first I thought this skill would be useless but if used sparingly, only for worst situations, you will be pretty happy with it.

  • Gnuut has it basically right, but I would add that the amount of wounds is dependent on your current willpower stat. So at 500 willpower, you take about 40/41/42 wounds (strangely, the willpower and focus wounds are always slightly above the mind wounds). At lower willpower, the wounds go up, and higher willpower, the wounds go down.

So it can be worth creating macros to unequip armor, pop willpower food, etc before using /healMind.

As mentioned, you also pick up 9 battle fatigue. This is not dependent on willpower (it appears to be constant under all circumstances I have tested it under).

The effect of your willpower decreasing is to increase the drain on your mind pool, not to increase the wounds you receive. The increase to the wounds you receive is actually do to the battle fatigue incurred. On an interesting side note, battle fatigue also adds to the wounds taken due to disease. Imagine my shock when i saw a disease tick for 700 wounds!

Ah, you know, you are probably right considering that disease wounds are affected by battle fatigue. I saw my wounds increasing with lowerfocus and assumed that was the correlation when it probably was from the increased battle fatigue.

Anyway, an eay way to test -

    1. Heal all mind wounds and battle fatigue

    2. Do a mindHeal on someone unarmored

    3. Heal all mind wounds and battle fatigue

    4. Do a mindHeal on someone while wearing a heavy helmet (composite or ubese will work)

Compare the results of 2 and 4 since the focus will be very different, but the battle fatigue will be the same.

I suspect you are right - focus changes the damage you take and battle fatigue changes the wounds you take.
