Thread: OK yeah we seem overpowered some ideas to balance it

A well planned massive pvp event on Kettemoor went south when some CMs broke the rules and used mind poisons. But it's sad that those rules even needed to be added to try to insure a fun event. Not surprising manytook major mind poison/disease damage, and lots of fingers were pointed, and it was even suggested CMs be banned from further events.

As a CM I've gotten tired of the rants against our profession and hoped that everyone would get balanced up to our level rather than a nerf or that some other uber class would rise to the top and become everyone's sticking point.

The fact is that poison and disease just need a balance and we should try to come up with a fair one ourselves rather than letting other classes that just demand a quick fixdecide.

Hereare4 alterations that I could live with for our class:

A - Ranged area counter cures thrown by docs or cms, successful cure based on relative power of poison vs. cure with a little variation thrown in to keep it interesting. Multiple applications of a cure could overcome a better crafted poison eventually.

or

B - Ranged area poisons/diseases have a set number for virulence that is divided amongst targets. Hit 1 player with it and he gets full dose, hit 5 guys and they each take 1/5 dose. This makes CM choose targets and timing with more strategy.

or

C - Area poisons/disease hits 1 target first, them spreads to another with everyDOT tick if they are in the area of effect range. This has kind of a plague feel and would cause groups to scatter and docs to really question if they want to run in and try to cure or flee from the wretch.

or

D - Base damage and dot on closeness to CM. If he throws a ranged 60m poison it might have 50% damage, if he jabs a guy 2 meters away in the ribs with a poison needle, the victim is getting 100% and is going to be hurting bad.

One of these would be more acceptable to me than reducing PVP damage across the board or any of the nerfs that I have heard proposed so far. In fact I would choose C because it seems like it would be most fun. Are any of these interesting to the rest of the CM community or those upset with our profession right now?

Sure we want the LOS and range issues dealt with first, that's why they have been on the issues list for so long. But now people are screaming to nerf CM damage, I just don't want the devs to also drop in a blanket % reduction to appease the non-cms when they do get around working on our issues list.

I have to say I really like your idea's. I believe that cm could use some fixes.

I have always believed that being hit by the full potentcy and not even being close seems kinda astray. Also, another idea would be to implement a potentcy (kinda like dot weapon's that are currently looted).

A member of your community suggested I get poison/disease resitent clothe's and food, I have not seen any improvement from such items. Maybe it needs to be looked into. Defense's, primary and secondary, could also be applied to the "to hit" roll's

I do not believe a wide scale nerf to cm is the solution, but I do believe that many cm's are very quick to dismiss ideas from people outside their community. I have posted a few suggestion's and received nothing but insults and flames for them, I find this very disappointing as I do not want to see any profession be worse than another.

If you do not agree with my suggestion's posting your arguement would be most appreciated. If possible could it be done in a civil manner, as I did not intend any offense by the suggestion's.

thanks
