Very good healing, great debuffs / target management, and also it couples nicely with ranged professions since it already requires the Ranged Support treein marksman (translates into a lower SP investment than getting doc to go w/ ranged).

I view CM as a total group support healer. So to me, a cm is best in a group. ADoctor is able to have a very powerful heal, but a combat medic has several heals and if used properly, is able to keep a group fighting better than a Doc is able to.
The debuffs are also very useful, in pve you can slow down target's attack speed and movement, or paralyze them to keep them out of a fight while the group works.
The Alliance Disruptor also looks cool in my opinion.

they are both opposite....CM= Group healing, Doc=Single target healing, CM=Debuff, Doc=Buff, CMs put people on fire, Docs put out the fire ![]()

Well, for what role?
That's like asking which is better - a Jeep or a Mustang?
What are you using it for? Offroading, or hauling arse around curves?
Both can have comparable healing (esp if you have CM and +med mod clothes)
Docs can buff, providing more offense (adrenal boost and such). CMs can debuff. Same general effect, but from a different way of getting there.
I tend to prefer CM debuffs, especially for ranged. Electrolyte drain is a GREAT snare. Best in the game, IMHO.
Of course I'm personally partial to CM over Doc, since I have a MCM. But both are extremely useful in various roles.

for the role of healing yourself and in a group
For solely healing, I'd say Doc and if you have the SP available, maybe a line line from CM.
Bacta infusion + jab + shot are extremely nice. Plus the doc buffs.
However, if you want more than just healing, I'd say go CM to be better rounded.
Again, these are my personal opinions on your situation, and I have a MCM, a Doc 4xxx, a Doc xxx4, and a Doc 4xx4. (Actually the MCM is also the doc xxx4 to go with rifles). And based on my experiences post-CU, that's what I think.

I have Master Combat Medic and recently dropped 4/0/0/0 Doctor for 0/0/0/4 Doctor. I miss Bacta Infusion and Improved Heal Wound, but the buffs make up for it in my opinion.
