Thread: So am I supposed to be aggroing the whole mob?
When I'm lobbing the heals at my group, about half the time one (or the whole herd) of the (insert mob name here) goes ballistic and all attack me. Now right now I'm still pretty low level (CL5) But, I'm a 2 year vet and its my alt. Is this intended? A bug? Am I doing something wrong?
Regardless I would like to say that when I started 2 years ago, I was going for MBH but picked up medic skills along the way because back then armor/buffs were almost nonexistant. I ended up along the process making it about half way to master CM before I started having to dump skills for BH. It ended up being something I was kind of bummed out about seeing as CM was pretty damn fun. Well regardless of the CU, my current experience with (as minimal as it is) CM/medic stuff its still a blast. Even though I've been getting dropped like hot rocks regularly.
If you use bacta spray then a lot of the time you will draw aggro from the mobs. i think you're only supposed to draw it form the mobs who are already aggroing, but a lot of the time you can draw aggro from passive mobs too. i used bacta spray on a bol hunt and drew aggro from nearby huuron howlers the other day.
basically if you use bacta spray you can potentially get aggro from any mob within the 15m radius.
SOE said they were reducing by 50% the aggro we got from healing but i've not noticed any diference.
Also if you are healing someone who is in combat with a mob then the mob may attack you.
Lol the joys of CM ![]()
the problem with the huurons was i was up to my neck in dead bols so i didn't even see the huurons that were attacking me, all i could see was my health dropping like a stone, it wasn't till i ran out of the bol pile i saw about 10 of the little barstuards chewing on my kneecaps.
if the person you are trying to heal has 1 mob on him = no problem
if the person has 2 or more mobs on them and they are currently attacking only 1 you will draw the aggro from all the mobs attacking him except the one he is attacking.
if that makes sense

It's only a sign that your group's tank(s) don't know how to do their job right to hold aggro vs. healers (if the tank is low-levelish too or of a not overly useful tank template and as such can only hold aggro on one mob at a time your group needs to single pull them or if avail, use mezzing abilities to remove the additional mobs from combat, simple as that. If the mob you fight is social and single pulling does not work there, do missions on different creatures which are not social, Nudfuh missions on Rori are for example a good choice for non-social mobs).
The hate system by now very much looks like it is working just fine, it just needs the people involved know how to handle it.

Heal hate is determined on the amount of damage done against a mob, it could be damage, taunt, or heals.
The mobs aggro whoever does the most damage. So for instance, if a tank has several mobs on him, and has only done damage to one mob, if you heal him, you have some more damge to the mobs than the tank and thus draw aggro.
I too have been grinding CM on my alt but I find I dont have this problem as much anymore unless I heal a guy that threw a grenade without telling the group. If the puller or tank can keep the aggro you should be fine until you do get the 0400 medic and get bacta spray, if the puller or tank doesnt keep the aggro you will die more often.
Hope this helps some.
Anyways, I thought the aggro was too high myself, but I can tank pretty well and my damage usually makes me the tank anyways so I don't notice. But I always thought it would be a problem for the lower level healers.
I think the most hate I have generated with Bacta Spray is on the corvette, in the pentagonal room leading up to the bridge (the one with the armouir loot to the side) my guildies and I often stop to wipe out all the mobs, if I hit Bacta Spray here, I get all the neighbouring CL80-cl84 Corsecs and SBD's after me, even though they are not in combat.
Luckily I can just go for a ride in a lift and they drop aggro, but it is somewhat disconcerting when you are running for the lift with the overhead map on and you see a long line of red triangles following behind you. ![]()
So I'd say there are still some bugs to be ironed out with it aggroing mobs that are not in combat. ![]()

Well hopefully I'll be able to hold my own a bit better when I advance a bit more. I'm pretty low level ATM, I think 3/3/0/2 marksman and medic 0/3/0/0 (going mcm, master rifles, pistols 0/4/0/4) as of right now. Good thing I've played for 2 years or I'd be frustrated as hell right now.
