I looked through the FAQ (could do with some new detailed information to be honest) because I was wondering on the typical power of poisons and diseases from the A through to the C packs. Naturally I cannot master CM however at least I can get 100% experimentation without doing that so dabbling is all I really need. So yeah, whats the typical damage on the poisons and diseases for them so I can get an idea if a CH/CM combination will be effective.

if you are doing this for PvE, the CH will be great. you can get your creatures to tank and just stand back and lob ALL of your sets of poisons and diseases (a set constitues a and b poison and a and b disease of each kind you can make as they stack. you cannot throw Cs because you will not be a master)

CM by itself is a weak PvE class. i repeat CM is a weak PvE BY ITSELF.

you should be happy with the combination

That will be expensive PvE.. and probably pretty slow. I have been both (although not at the same time) but I wouldn't suggest it.

I agree with AcidRaine on the speed of your PvE action. I do not think you will want to pursue this path as it would lead to some pretty slow combat.

I'm a CM/CH PvP novice - CH/CM is respectable enough if you're fighting NPC's and have mastered CH so you have strong enough pets out that won't take 20 minutes to kill one NPC. Keep in mind that NPC's are in groups. I often lose my Rancor within2 minutes of any attack on an installation. I suggest a CH/CM combination that will also allow you to have all 4 Pistol skills from Marksman, and possibly Novice Pistoleer. You need to be able to do some sort of immediate damage.

I'm fairly sure that a mob can only have one DoT at a time now, they removed stacking from what I understand but then again I've not played with CM before so I can't be sure. Are you certain that A and Bs would stack?

Yes they stack. They made it so bleeds no longer stack but our Poisons and Diseases are not bleeds. You can also stack your Area Poisons with your Single target poisons.

It's not the best of templates, namely because as has been said it can be very time consuming. Havinga low-level CH pet along with CM and a ranged weapon would be faster, PvE-wise, then simply CM/CH.

Here is an example of the damage you can expect to do. Before you go CM, I would make sure there is a vendor that sells poisons and check which stats they have.

I'm a CM/CH, and yeah, combat with those two skillsets alone would be excruciatingly slow. Critters don't do much damage, and neither do DOTs. I still do most of the damage with Pistol IV in PvE. More than the pets, more than the poisons. The other catch is due to SP limitations, you can't go very far in the CH skill tree while retaining MCM, so the most you could probably hope to call is CL 30 or so before you're tapped out on SP. This will give you apassable tank pet for mid level mobs, but you can't hope to take on much more thanone sharnaff bull at a time. Forget about anything above that level, particularly high end NPCs.

Where CM comes in real handy is with BAFfing crowds., usiing AOE health poison, to complement the damage output of the pet.

CM is most effective in high-end PvE as part of a group, and there the CH skills don't even really matter; you've probably got some much more effective PC melee tanks doing the work for you that 6 months ago would have been what the GSP or graul mauler was doing for the group. In this case, the group wants you for DOTs on the victim.
