Thread: Into the Memory Book: Chapter 7 Combat Medic Healing.
Good post.
What you are essentially describing is an overall lack of challenge. I absolutely agree.Eighty percent (or more) of the game is without challenge nowadays ... a consequence of overpowered doctor & chef buffs along with absurd armor. But not to be forgotten are the side effects of vehicles and cities, both of which have turned the wilderness intourban speedbumps, thereby providing easy access to what used to be long adventures.
All of these things add up to highly convenient solo game play -- and that's the root of the problem. Things are simply too convenient anymore. When thingsbecome too convenient, then things become too easy, which ultimately results in boredom.
I have high hopes for the upcoming combat balance. This may go a long way to remedy the problem (/crossfingers). I very much desire for things to become a challenge again, to reinvigorate group dynamics, and to reduce many of the conveniences we now "enjoy." That would be a good thing indeed.

I to am waiting for the upcoming combat balance however stand ready to have the ear plugs for the screaming that will occur when people feel that the "combat balance" has "nerfed" them to the point of uselessness and I'm going to quit because of it. This sort of reminds me when the implemented the crafting change. My ears are still ringing from that one.
As other posters has said groups rarely need a dedicated healer now with buffs, and armour. As a DOC/CM i miss the days when you would be well looked after for your healing abilities.
I think someone should call George Lucas and get him to include lots and lots of CM/RMs in EP3 that go round killing everyone.... then I'd be happy for them to be the best template
