I was one of the first Master Doc/Master CM on my server and have been both ever since. I have been through both through their hard times and know the both inside and out. Doc was my first and foremost love ... CM I took for it's Area heals to keep my party alive. I gained much respect for my healing ablilies. How our parties would always seem to survive far hearder situations then they ever thought powerful. Many consider me one of the best healers they have ever met.

I have been reading about how CMs now a day are being used for killing... and not for their healing. This saddens me but I understand why this is. Buffs are too high, armor is too powerful and PvE is too easy.

I remember the time before Buff became popular and before Armor armor was good. I would spend all my time in a hunt healing. Area Stims, Ranged stims, even pet stims since CH was popular back then too. I have them all made and all armed at all times. You will never catch me short of any healing stim.

However, this is just not the case anymore. I made an another charature because my Doc/CM wasn't needed for healing anymore. I find she only buffs and throws an area mind pioson for protecting out Town's Base. This bores me. I'd give up my piosons and Diesase again to have healing be needed again. With buffs and armor... anyone can solo anything now a days. I know about Geo caves... I know about corvette ... but that's just two place out of the entire galaxie that HEALING is needed. All I hear on guild chat and from people anymore is "I soloed this" ... "I soloed that." It saddens me. Healing is just not needed in the game anymore. Plus, now ANYONE that can just push their mouse button and spam a special can kill anyone. Takes NO skill to fight in this game.

Some of the ideas I've read on this forum I like... allow only CMs to heal DURING combat. That is a great idea. Making Stim Bs harder to use... I also like.

But ... the real problem I see... is just that it's too easy to make your person powerful. Buffs and Armor and everywhere. With those two things and even a bad template... you can tank for hours.

The 2 HUGE changes I would like to see with combat Balance is:

1) Lower the power of buffs and the effectiveness of armor. Let people have skills and stragidy to play and fight...

2) Make planets and PvE all together Harder. Bring back the days when you needed to ask for help from 5 friends to take out a single rancor. Day when scouts would set camps after every 5 or 7 fights to heal back up. I find PvE hunts so boring now as a Doc/CM. I am nothing but a holder of 2 missions and a buffer when a set runs out.

I know I can PvP... but even that is boring. No point is healing anyone because I'd be dead 5 seconds later and then I'm not help to anyone. So, in PvP... (I'm a healing CM not a bio-warfair one --- though I do have piosons/disease armed and ready) I stand far back and those that need healed know to come to me. But ... rearly do they ever drop back... it's just too late.

Bring back the fun for healing... Buffing bot is boring and something I can do AFK. I would like the usefulness of HEALING CM and DOC back.

Am I alone with this?

I agree! I have the same template and the MOST fun I have in the game is healing the group
.

Throwing heals, curing, curing states, mind healing all mixed into intense PvE combat really gets me going. When I come back from a POI with a completly black mind bar I LOVE it cause it meant I had a great time! Using strategy to determine, in a split second who is next on the priority list, whether I have enough mind to heal, quickly removing my armor to do a quick mind heal so that the encumbrance does not take my mind out, etc..

Buffs had made the need less, thats one of the reasons the corvette is so fun.. Since people often end up dying, and losing their buffs, it gets much more challenging if you have some members die.

I am hoping the balance brings us more need for healing.

Good post.

What you are essentially describing is an overall lack of challenge. I absolutely agree.Eighty percent (or more) of the game is without challenge nowadays ... a consequence of overpowered doctor & chef buffs along with absurd armor. But not to be forgotten are the side effects of vehicles and cities, both of which have turned the wilderness intourban speedbumps, thereby providing easy access to what used to be long adventures.

All of these things add up to highly convenient solo game play -- and that's the root of the problem. Things are simply too convenient anymore. When thingsbecome too convenient, then things become too easy, which ultimately results in boredom.

I have high hopes for the upcoming combat balance. This may go a long way to remedy the problem (/crossfingers). I very much desire for things to become a challenge again, to reinvigorate group dynamics, and to reduce many of the conveniences we now "enjoy." That would be a good thing indeed.

I agree with the original post as well. I am also a Doc/CM and chose CM initially due to the ranged and area heals. PvP wasn't even a thought at the time. I just stayed on Dant and healed all my friends while they bashed quenkers and pikets. I loved it....Now, it's just not the same. All I get pretty much is 'hey, i'm here can i get a buff?' I don't even wear my master titles anymore. No Doc to avoid the millions of buff requests, and the CM stays off to avoid the hate tells or just random rudeness from other players that don't even know me. But on another note, the issue of challenge. I am still challenged a lot in this game in pvp and pve, why you ask? Well, hehe, I'm a Wookiee. Totally a self inflicted handicap (not so much with the armor now), but there is still a challenge for me Anyway, I too miss the healing CM and the respect that came with it. Hopefully one day the CM's will not be the most hated class, it gets old grouping for some pvp and feeling as though I can't even tell people what my professions are. Being spurned by your own group kinda sucks. Well, until the rebalance /salute to all those old school CM's and anybody else that has chosen the profession knowing the level of flaming you will take for it.

I to am waiting for the upcoming combat balance however stand ready to have the ear plugs for the screaming that will occur when people feel that the "combat balance" has "nerfed" them to the point of uselessness and I'm going to quit because of it. This sort of reminds me when the implemented the crafting change. My ears are still ringing from that one.

As other posters has said groups rarely need a dedicated healer now with buffs, and armour. As a DOC/CM i miss the days when you would be well looked after for your healing abilities.

The mind bar will always be the primary target until combat balance is here.

Yes buffs and armour have made the game too powerful. But CMs are the powerhouses in PVP now because they can effectively bypass these 2 game mechanics.

Add to that they can throw them further than anyone else and the fact nobody hardly resists and you can see why CM is the PVP template.

Personally I dont think CMs should be the best template for PVP, due to the fact its not very star warsy and also the fact its such a negative gameplay style.

I think someone should call George Lucas and get him to include lots and lots of CM/RMs in EP3 that go round killing everyone.... then I'd be happy for them to be the best template
