For the real CM's out here I was wondering what your choice is for PvP armor. Also, if your choice of alternate skills makes a difference here as well.

Heck, while we're at it... what about your choice for PvE armor?

40% Stun Comp with as high EFF sliced base as possible for PvP. No other choice really.

80% Kinetic Comp unsliced or sliced for ENC would be ideal for PvE as all non-NPC mobs deal kinetic dmg.

Having said that, check out the SDTech Armor store in Braxis on Naboo. Check out this link for stats, prices and wp - you wont be dissapointed

I take Composite armor, with a stun layer (but low HAM is the most important), i do not wear a helmet, even with brandy, moun, and other buffs, i still will not wear a helmet..... As far as other skills go, im smuggler/pistoleer... so i rely on range.. my friend is TKA and Combat medic

As a doc/CM, the only thing that really frightens me in PvP is headshots. I can generally heal the rest. The only way to deal with a smart rifleman is a stun layered (35-40%) advanced composite helm. It's very high mind encumbrance, but you can mitigate this through brandy and/or keeping the helm on a toggle.

I also tend to wear very light armor with at least energy and kinetic protections for all other areas. Voritor bone or mabari works well for this. This doesn't help much against good PvPers (who tend to use exotic damage types or armor piercing weapons), but does help (cuts damage in half) against the riff-raff who insist on using scout blasters without incurring any meaningful encumbrance penalties (and it is the riff-raff who tend to auto-target you after an area poison throw).

Oh, and the best PSG I can find is critical in PvP as well. The extra stun protection is nice, though these don't always appear to work..

PvE is completely different. It's no armor normally with a complete advanced ubese set on toggle in case I catch agro.

Not a Combat Medic anymore, but used to be one.

For PvE i never wore armor, as i had CM with master doc, i just stood in the back healing/poisoning/rezzing and never got attacked. (i love how drag incap works on corpses )

For PvP, good 40% base padded with as high stun/base comp helmet you can get. and dancer/musician buffs + brandy + muon + canapes are a MUST. Combat Medics in PvP basically need to protect their minds, anything else on their body that gets hit is like an instant heal, and with proper mind enhancement your instantly healed from the mind your using to heal yourself. One more time, best comp helmet you can get your hands on and best mind enhancements (with all the trimmings) you can get,

Great responses. I appreciate the input. I hate wearing a helmet but have to agree that it's mandatory for PvP. As I normally solo PvE and have a CL 20 BE'd pet for a tank I normally don't have to worry about armor there either, as most of you seem to. I love being able to take out an entire lair of critters with no down time. My advanced padded set works well enough and the look is way better than Ubese

PvE= 70+% ubese vs. animals or generic 50+% composite vs. most shooting NPC's *note- Geo caves (some stun)and Corvette (energy heavy) require higher quality composite.

PvP= 70%kinetic/ 30% stun helmet (only 200 mind after slicing :smileyvery-happy 10% stun/ 70% kinetic chestplate or just a straight 80% kinetic. All of the rest is sliced for highestbase. Encumbrance is of no concern thanks to doc/entertainer buffs, ahrissa, and brandy. And if you think that doctor buffs alone will get you by in serious PvP then please reconsider...unless you have meditate 4. With a 7-15min duration and 30% filling canape is pretty overrated except for last ditch or major field battles.

Helmet needs the most stun protection since the jawa ion rifle is light armor piercing and takes not armor penalites minus the resists but its dps isn't all that great by itself so a 30% resist will shave out quite a bit. If someone switches to a T21 though you're toast. The stun baton has no armor piercing and automatically takes a 50% reduction in damage against ANY amount of stun layered armor then has to compete against the resists. The big problem with stun is that most of the spawns seem to intentionally have been low or medium OQ and MA which controls the encumbrances when making these layers. The good armorsmiths will have to figure a way to balance out this by using high OQ/MA materials in order to keep the encumbrance low while still retaining a high base. Unless the baton is acklay enhanced its damage is going to be low even after slicing so a 50% reduction will put a big dent in its dps.

911gt198, there is a hard cap of +100 combat medic effectiveness, which you get as master combat medic automatically without skill tapes. You realize that the +25 combat medic effectiveness outfit has no effect on your abilities, right?
