I just bought my first factory and have no idea how they work. could another CM with experience give me a rundown of how they work and what i should expect? I've got a few specific questions and I'll list them below. sorry if these questions seem stupid. I'd appreciate any help or advice you could give.

UPKEEP- What should I expect the upkeep costs to be? How often will I have to dump money into this thing and do I have to do it even when Im not using it?

POWER- What should I use? does it matter? Does the quality of the power I use affect the quality of what I manufacture. Should I consider getting a wind or solar generator to supply my own power? do you guys harvest your own resources. I dont have any survey skill.

MOVING- Can I move this thing once I've placed it? I like Corellia right now, but maybe in a month I'll be into Talus.

XP- Will i get crafting xp for items made by my factory? How did you guys grind your xp.? It's going really slow for me.

I may not be asking all the right questions so if there's something I'm not asking that I should know. Please tell me.

Money upkeep isn't bad at all...if it's 1000/day id be surprised (don't have the info off hand) but it's cheaper than a medium harvester.

Power I believe that is 50/hr...only used when factory is used (thank god). I use solar..because my friends do and i don't have survey anymore so i lay it where they do..could also use radioactive since you're going to need it for CM stuff.

Went slow for us too..don't rely on factory to get you xp

realize that the poison/diseases you're going to use at first A&B's aren't worth making in my oppinion...might be better off just making all the precombines in your factory....make stims for your crafting xp...then once you can make poison/disease Cs then you're have a stock pile of precombines.

what you're want to do is get enuf materials to make a good amount of precombines....say 100

then get a doctor (since the devs won't fix) to make a schematic for the precombines and give to you..put in the factory then put ingreidents in....then make them

These are all good questions. They seem to be the same exact questions I had a week ago.

It is about 1k creditsa day to keep your factory up.

Power: Any type of energy will do. But remember this, when adding power to your factory, put all of your other chemicals that could beused as power into your backpack. Thisisbecause you don't get to pick what is used for power, the factory just sees what it can use from your inventory and takes it. If you see a value that is greater than what you know to be the amout of your power supplies, then you will know it is seeing something else in your inventory as usable power...get that into your backpack.

Power will only be used when the the factory is making something. This is really nice, so you don't have to worry about shutting it off after you're done using it.

As far as moving goes, yes, you can move it, but I don't know how much it will cost you.

Do you guys feel we should, as combat medics, be required to run a factory to craft our stims? It seems to me that a factory would be helpfull for mass production, but we should be able to craft everything by hand if we so desired. Requiring a factory and upkeep to be a CM discourages this profession for the casual swg gamer in my opinion. Not everyone plays often enough to keep the upkeep of their structures under control. It would really suck to lose a structure if you werent able to play for a week or two (work or vaction) Just my thoughts.

Technically, you don't actually need to personally own a factory. There's a couple other methods of getting crated components (e.g. Buy from another player, share factory time with someone who is willing).

However, running a factory isn't all that costly. If you are low on credits, I'd make as many sub-components as possible and then reclaim the factory deed. If you're like me, you don't go through stims as quickly as you can make them. You could supply yourself with a LOT of sub-components for a weeks worth of factory runs and combine the components by hand when you needed them.
