I'm working on CM, but don't know where I should go for an elite marksman profession. Rifleman seems logical, but since I have a BH on Valcyn I know how hard it is to keep the bad guys at optimal range. Carbineer is one I've been wanting to try, but the high HAM costs and overall crappy specials and guns steers me clear of it. Pistoleer is a VERY powerfull class by itself, but having already played a Pistoleer for a while I feel like its almost cheating since they are soooo good. Playing a BH/CH on one server and Pistoleer/CM on another would be a little too powergamer for me. Plus thereis toomuch whining on the pistoleer board for my tastes. So where does that leave me? It seems like I should do a shooty elite class, but none really appeal to me. Should I swallow my pride and go Pistoleer, or hope one of the others gets fixed soon and take a gamble? Can I master a HtH elite or will I run short of skill points, or will it be a waste regardless? OK, I admit it I'm lost!

Well I don't know how pistoleers are quite as good as you play them up to be but yes, they're pretty darn nifty. They're a great compliment to a CM since you get the med skills to heal up any HAM you use and pistols overall have small HAM costs allowing for armor to be worn even in pve. But I too share you lament about the carbineer class. I've wanted to go carbine since the beginning of the game but they've just been broken from the start and it's sad. In my opinion it's almost a no brainer choice for pistol, but carbine would probably be good since you'll have the med skills to back up the high HAM costs.

Riflemand would be a poor choice. As a CM you will be using your mind pool AND as a rifleman you would be using....your mind pool. Pistoleer is best choice, but I personally am a carbineer. We are closing in on some fixes, but yeah, carbineer is somewhat difficult at the moment.

I have a buddy thatis nearly a master carbiner and he has few complaints. The laser carbine is a solid weapon, if its sliced. He does very well with the EE and the DX-whatever too. The charge shot that has knock down and the leg bleeds and posture down attackswork real well to keep people at distance. But as a CM on Intrepid I personally prefer the pistol due to the HAM costs don't interfere with my ability to heal.
