Thread: Questions on Item Decay on Death

I'm stuck at work at the moment, but there was a lot of talk about re-implementing item decay and I'm curious about some aspects of it.

First and foremost, is it included in this patch? There weren't any clear notes with it that I've seen, just what Thunderheart posted a week or so ago.

The information in the updated manual says that certain items will decay on death, any ideas what items? I would guess that weapons and armor will decay, but what about our meds?

Our meds and crafted items don't have a condition value (that I could see) so if they decay how will it efect them?

I imagine that you all carry around several stacks of stims and poisons at least, maybe wound packs as well. Doesn't really matter how cheap they make insuring individual items, a crate of 50 ranged stims, crate of 50 area stims, crate or two of poisons will get expensive. Has anyone checked the price to insure all of this?

I'll definately be checking into this if I can find time to play tonight, but any information on it before then will be appreciated.

Insurance is not live

Medicines are unaffectedby decay, only items with durability are.

the way it is working on TC is

when you clone you will receive 1% decay on items with insurance and 5% decay on items that were not insured. the following items fall under this rule

  • all survey tools

  • all crafting tools

  • all clothing

  • Personal Sheild generators

  • armor

Items not effected

  • Weapons

  • most deeds ( some conflicting reports on heavy harvestors )

  • resources

  • medicines

  • poisons / diseases

  • components and crated items

Well thats great news Kavedawg, thanks! With all the trouble I have paying for resources and harvestors to make the meds I would have had to file for bankruptcy with the insurance costs.

I find it kinda odd that weapons don't decay but survey tools do. I guess weapons drop fast enough through use that the devs are cuting us some slack there.

Out of curiosity, and this is a total shot in the dark, what about droids? I have a pair of probots I keep with me, one with a storage compartment and a medic station the other with a food/chem crafting station and a storage compartment. If I die I know they don't decay but typically I will store some resources and my crafting tools for emergency crafting in the field. If the droid dies (or me I suppose) will the items in the droids storage compartment decay? Thats pretty far fetched testing so I don't really expect an answer, just thought I'd ask.
