Thread: Combat Medic vs. Doctor Resource/Grinding question:

Tonight I qualified for both Novice Doctor and Novice Medic, and after doing a decent amount of research Im still not sure which route I want to take. Im still not quite sure which would be better suited for me (TKA/Medic/Scout) in general, but one thing Im curious about is this:
When it comes to the Resources needed for buffing/poisoning,and the grinding involved to get to the point of buffing/poisoning,which profession (CM or DOC) is the LEAST pain to collect and grind?? I dont play as much as I used to, so I have to take into account how much time and effort goes into resource gathering and grinding between the two professions. So i guess what im asking is which profession requires less effort when it comes to resource gathering, and is the least time consuming when it comes to grinding for xp? Thank you for your suggestions!!

Also, tonight i looted a skill tape that does +2 to Combat Medicine Experimentation, how well does that affect the crafting aspect of CM? Overall will it make a decent impact on the poisons you can create? And pardon my newbishness, but I assume that is only able to be used by CM's, correct? Thank you again!

Well I got 4404 in CM in 1 day.. today.. hehe, and I got 4440 in Doctor in 1 day.. the doctor took alittle longer because I couldnt buff, and buffing gives the best medic xp by far. But if you can get a friend to tumble for you and just fill your inventory with stims, create a healing macro you should start getting xp quickly. That is what I did, basically doc and cm are the same for grinding.. I hate the medical grind but it pays off.

CM and doc use the same resources to grind with.
As for resources to make meds with...both are a pain in the keester, with Doc resources being slightly easier to get.

i have one thing to say about grinding medical xp:
1 player
+ 1 full set of kinetic armor
+ (1 dwarf nuna/kreetle/gorg nest)
+stacks ofAREA poisons
= about 3k medical xp every couple of seconds.
that's all I will say on the subject.

If you're just grinding out the crafting XP, ABECs are your best bet, with crummy Lok wild wheat and Tat fiberplast in the practice mode. Because you can always get Lok wild wheat or Tat fiberplast. Not so with the sometimes insanely rare resources needed for the advanced CM meds.
Med XP is med XP, med crafting XP is med crafting XP. I got most of my XP for MCM with the same methods I used to get Master Medic: healing dancers in the cantinas, healing wounds in the medfacs.

And those resources that are so hard to get are the Avian types I assume? Anything else? Whats in high demand for Medical Crafting Purposes? Or what makes the best products, I should say...

OMG, I just saw a list in the Doctor boards of the differences in resources......what a difference. CM is much more dependent on rare's than Doctors are. Much more than listed here...

they all take the same crafting xp so...
if you can make area stims just stand in an overly populated cantina like theed (on my server) and heal the people you get spammed with xp and so it goes pretty quick
they will take just about as long for each one
so it comes down to you wanting to be in combat or make money
if you just want to make money then be a dr if you want combat then go be a CM
