I have not yet experimented with armor types in pvp. Clothes obviously are not a choice. So the question is what type of armor is best for a CM (CM/rifleman to be particular) if he is goin to be using a lot of mind pool. Since I don't want tobe dependant on a Doctor's buffs in order to fight what is the most decent and equipable armor out there? Basically we need a support class type armor, partial defence against all damage types, does it exist or should it beimplemented into the game? I don't want to be a mage with a cloth draped over me and I also don't want to be encumbered with a fullplate suit and shield. Maybe only wearing partial sets of armor is the answer or mixing different sets. What do you other CMs do? Perhaps we can come up with a standard armor configuration for all CMs...

Well, Ubese seems to be a really good choice. Maybe even have more then one suit with 70% to whatever and 15% or so base. Ubese isn't very encumbering, but that helmet is so ugly... With some good slices and some skill tapes you have got yourself a good CM armor.

I'm a Twi'lek Master CM/Master Rifle so I know the pain of dealing with limited mind stats and good armor. It's a trek but once you have the formula down, yer good to go.

1) Migrate yer mind sec stats to MAX- If yer fighting anything tougher than a gnort without doc buffs anyways, you deserve a season pass to the cloning center. Lose the other ham stats and max yer mind because it will make a HUGE difference when you....

2) BEFRIEND Master Musicians/Dancers- You can watch and listen to them at same time...6-10 minutes will get you double yer mindpool and sec stats.

3) All about BE'd Brandy- Get it in crates. Eat it twice and you you should get an extra 800 to all mind stats for around 40 minutes.

***This should get rid of most of yer armor encumbrance worries, but I take this further for my toon***

4) Always check BOTH Sliced armor vendors- Sometimes you'll find an EFFECTIVENESS sliced light piece of comp that's comparable or BETTER than and ENCUMBRANCE sliced piece of triple layer comp. I have a med comp helm with almost 80 something def down the board with 172 encumbrance compared to an 90% DTB helm that was enc sliced to 260...so lemme get this straight. This helm is almost 100k more and only gives me 5% more defense yet has 90 more encumbrance? BWAHAHAH! I think I know what I'll buy. And so should you. My full comp sets give me at least 80 something % protection and I can wear the wholesuit and STILL have around 100 mind sec stats left WITHOUT any mind buffs or food. Not bad for a toon who's Mind stats cap at 500! How do I do it? I....

5) PIECE yer armor together- If yer gonna hunt baz nitches for the rest of the game then by all means go with Ubese, But if yer gonna hunt NS or PvP, you will need Comp Armor. SO! Piece them together, Comp Helm, Chest, Pants...then have either single layer comp appendage pieces or throw some Ubese in there .

6) NEW PSG's ROCK!!!- With the plethora of Jawa Ion wielding Riflemen and the introduction of the Gen Stun Pistols that are doing upwards of 500 dmg (check the trade forums if ya don't believe me), most comp armor isn't worth crap against them unless you have Stun layered. INTRODUCING the NEW PSG's. Lotsa armorsmiths are getting the hint that maybe the 50% energy PSG's aren't the way to go anymore and are spreading the love to the other stats. I just bought a crate of 20% energy/35% everything else INCLUDING stun PSG's on my server. All that and no encumbrance whatsoever? They're not yer DADDY's PSG's!

7) LOVE yer ARMORSMITH, HATE those Nightsisters!!- NS armorshards and layers are a great way to bring the armor encumbrance down. Add Krayt Scales and Segments and you have lightweight set of comp with more Bang for the buck...depending on the slice of course! And GET INVOLVED with the creation process! If you come across Wooly hide with Uber stats you KNOW yer armorsmith will drool over? Let him/her know and farm the crap out of it. They may be appreciative enough to give you the pick of the litter!

Hope this helps guys! Good luck! ;D

Thanks, Goat! The trick to this game is to use tactics on and off the battlefield. Helps to offset the sting of upcoming nerfs!

OK. 1) A PSG stands for Personal Shield Generator and it is worn on your belt slot. Resistances vary according to design but they offer Amor rating of a 1 and their resistances/vulnerabilities are listed just like armor pieces are. The ctahc is that they can be burned up fairly fast. Everytime they take hits the condition goes down. Normal condition is around 900 something so it's best to equip them before a battle and have some spares ready in case one is burned up.

2) I'm not an armorsmith either LOL. But Composite Armor is layered armor and more layers usually equal better protection BUT also usually equal greater encumbrance. And no matter how many layers are in it, Comp armor is still only considered Light Class armor.

3) Most armor made by the best armorsmiths WILL have sockets for Armor attachments. If not you can do one of two things. If you have clothing attachments put them in the shirt that can be worn under a chest plate. If you have armor attacthments, you can get a socketed Ubese shirt that is the only shirt I know that will take armor attachments or put them into a bandolier. Keep in mind that you can't wear a bandolier if you wear a backpack. *** DO NOT put the SAME TYPE of MOD sea into the same piece of clothing! BUGGED! It will eat it!!***

4) Yes. NS armor shards and layers are used during the crafting process. If you want the least amount of encumbrance, then try to keep killing NS until you get a good loot of yellow-highlighted ones. You'll see the encumbrance stats on them. Layers usually have an action encumbrance reduction I think. Shards have all HAM enc reduction. Go for the largest reduction in Mind that you can find. And no..no negative side I could ever see to them.

Good Luck!

I'm not too familiar with armor so i got a few questions... 1) What is a PSG and how do they work? 2)
So there are basically 3 types of composite armor-light, med, and heavy? 3) and what if i want to throw some armor attachments on. Is all armor socketed? 4) Do these NS armorshars you were talking about have to be used during the crafting stage and is there a negative side to them?
