Thread: Combat Medic or CHemical Warfare Specialist: Which one are you?

I am a fairly new combat medic (been one for about 6 weeks). Through this time I have explored the profession and discovered I perfer the role of a field medic, or combat medic (hardly ever through poisons, and picked up doctor to be the complete battlefield healer). Yet through the forums it appears many are focusing on the combat medic as a chemical warfare specialist.

So the question is, how do you play? Are you the combat medic that is responsible to care for the troops? Heal from a distance, yet able to defend the wounded (we can master any range elite profession). Or are you the Chemical Warfare Specialist delivering death from a distance over time?

Note: would be interesting to see the numbers of the profession membersif they split combat medics into two professions, one for range healing, one for range harming.

I'd say 1/10 of your CMs would go with healing. no question here

If you check out the interesting links thread STICKIED on the top of the combat medic forum, you'll see quite a few posts by various people about how they play combat medics, and what they think combat medics should be. In short though, most of the regular posters here say they spend a fair amount of time healing, and few are dedicated poisoners. Whether this is a representative sample of the entire combat medic community is another question though.

I play a CM to 100% of it's abilities. Mind heal, AE heal, ranged heal, poisons and diseases. I use it all.

I became a MCM/MD because I like playing a support character that heals. I spend most of my time making good buffs and stims so that I can support fellow guild mates when we go on hunts.

I PVP very little but when I do, you bet I throw poison. It is in the game and I have no problem using all the tools available to my profession. The only combat skills I have are marks 0404. That means that my character would use poison as a weapon.

Out of the many profs I have tried MCM/MD is by far my favorite.

Cheers!

Same as above. Master Doc, Master CM and Marksman 0404.

For about the same reasons as well. I wanted to be the best support I can be. Out of battle, that is Doc. However, in the heat of things, CM rules. I only switch back to "Doctor" mode while resting at camps or patching folks up at the end of the night.

I have poision, but do not use it very much. It often seems to be a total waste because the creatures die so fast from the Melee and Ranged Fighters. On the other side, creatures like Dragons dont seem to even notice. Im sure it is all they say in PvP, but I have yet to try that.

I wouldn't want them to take poision away, but I would still be a CM as long as I had AoE and Mind Heals.

100% Combat Medic player since the beginning although I dabbled in doctor while I still had points from rerolling as a rifleman. My packpack never goes below 40 items due to the woundB packs, crated subcomponents, of course poisons.

Alway pack an area poison C, single poison C,area disease C,and area stim C with my choice of ranged stimB's or D's depending on the situation.

In short my inventories are always full thanks to everything I need to try and play a support character. Now if I just didn't need to fork over thousands of credits for enhanced ahrisa and use up my valuable stomach space just to equal a maxed out human MIND.

Currently being a human is superior to being any alien. Can we nerf rebels to be more alien friendly?

I play a Master CM/ former Master RM working for Carbineer. I think that CM are a very effective tool against defense stackers, therefore I utilise my AoE P/D to its fullest. Yeah they hate me for it, but you know what? i really dont care. i call it an even trade off, I have no defense at all, but man, I can deal some damage. I origionally got CM so i could Area Cure for places such as the DWB and CC, but as I continured through the profession, my guild and I started becoming more active int he PvP GCW, so i went out and spent a fortune on Diseases and Posions.

You want to be a good CM, dotn listen to what anyone says, you use the profession the way it is made. if someone has a problem with it, then its tough luck for them. They accepted the challenge to fight you, if they lose...... seems like a fair fight to me lol.
