Hi everyone! I just started the journey into CM and thought that I would put out a general call for advice from those of you who have tread this path before. I'm looking to keep it simple, so what are afew things that I should know or do to make my journey better/ more enjoyable(not necessarily easier). Are there any mistakes that you made that if you were to do this all over again you would do differently? I've been trolling through the forums, but decided to put out a general call for info so that I can get a feel for the current issues. Thanks for any words of wisdom you can provide!

Don't do it, for pvp i dont know but as far as i am concerned this field is now limper then a noodle. as a wookie my race has been nerfed and what armor i am giving is nouthing but spit and wood bark now, when i find a field where i like and can hunt, was looking at staying a combat medic infact just bought over 1.7millon in materails ,but as of 9.1 and the fact i have masterd marksman, lived thru the lean times as a master artisan, even mastered comando and a few more but under none have i ever had a lower combat rating then i do as a combat medic .now when i was able to solo hunt as a cm i could hit all my targets at around 64 meters and only pull 1 actually target to me which i could handle but now that same pison at 32 meters brings all targets into the fight,Why not just remove combat medics completely. and yes i am mad very mad i did not use what i larned as a pvp i used it to make a living and skill now i have lost that along with the time and money i spent granding this skill as of now, i guess nouthing is stopping from removing my main and only alt and starting a new one up and start all over.oooookkkkkkkkkk dev what happened to only working on the pvp end of this problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't play a CM for anyone but yourself. Don't let them tell you, you are just a support class. Define your own style of CM and have fun with it. At the beginning I was a CM/Doc. Later I started to dabble in other combat professions with CM. I learned more about PVP doing that than anything else. Try different templates with CM and you will develop yourself as a better CM.

Be willing to admit its overpowered for one. And dont listen to the wookiee dude, CM dominates PVP to an amazing degree.

Take CM and play it the way you want to. Be the healer, be the Chemical Warfare Expert, be what the abilities and skills let you be.

Don't let others tell you why you should or shouldn't take Combat Medic. If you do take CM, take it because it's fun.

Visit the FAQ for basic info. Three pieces of advice though:

1) Collect resources. Collectearly and collect often. Resource spawns are relatively rare, and the earlier you get started the better.

2) Pay attention to leveling order. I would do crafting first (you'll need it anyway), then support, then probably distance.

3) Throw any idea of how combat should work out the window. Combat medics are different than every other combat class, and you should not go into PvE or PvP combat expecting you to fight the same as a fencer or a pistoleer.

And finally: have *fun* with it. If you find you aren't liking it, if you have given it a fair chance, don't think twice about dropping it. Don't get pre-occupied with being "ub3r" orfindtingthe perfect templateand forget that this is all just a game.

What is your style of play? Do you enjoy PVE? PVP? Do you like being a support character? It depends. Do you play mainly alone or in groups of people?

There is nothing more exciting to me then going to Geo cave, Vette or other challenging dungeon with a group and keeping them alive. It makes the game more exciting for me. And for whatever reason I just love throwing stims.

The things that I learned along the way was to get your mind and secondary mind pools maxed as much as possible, use entertainer buffs, ahrisa, brandy and otherfoods, and bio healing clothes to maximize your effectiveness.

This may be somewhere else in these forums, but it was a month or more after I took up medicthatI foundthis out. When grouped you can target any member of your group by just clicking on their name in the group list. Duh! That was the biggest piece of advice I have ever recieved as a medic! It is sure easier to click on their name then running around searching for someone!(this was before the handy directional arrows in place now, btw)

It is already mentioned in this forum: but the way I grinded was to make ABC's for the crafting and macroed area stims in the Coro cantina for the rest. (Or you could hire someone to tumble to stand for that part.)

vortex and grau'din hit this one on the head, and i couldn't agree more.

only suggestion i would have is be prepared to get more than a few cries to be nerfed and a few nasty tells or more, as that seems to be the main thing to worry about. handle/ignore those problems and you'll be more than fine.

Wow...thanks for all the input! I'll take to heart the "do it for yourself" mentality. I don't have any pvp expierence, but my main reason for pursuing this class is to jump in and give it a try. My primary profession up to this point has been Master Rifleman, so in group pvp my goal is to sit at distance and provide whatever support is needed (healing, chemical warfare or sniper).

I knew that CM was accused of being too powerful, but I didn't realize other players would actually get nasty about their opinion. Good to know. Also, thanks for the advice about the resources. I'llstart hoarding!

Anything else I need to know?
