ok, below is a little hate guide i'm working on to help some ppl out... would like some input on what i got so far if you would plz....
What is Hate 101
Ok, so you are reading this in an attempt to get a better grasp on what the hate system is. Well let's start out by explaining just what exactly hate is in this game.
Hate is the amount a specific NPC want's to kill you. Hate is better known as Agro.
Ok, so now that you know what hate is, you want to know how to get as little of it as possible, right? So in order for you to be better able to control your own hate, also known as Agro Managment, I will explain to you how exactly hate is generated.
Ok so hate is generated primaraly by dealing damage to a Mob. Now this generates hate on a 1-1 basis. Therefore, for every 1 point of damage you do to a mob you gain 1 point of hate. Now healing also generates hate, this is done on a 2-1 basis. Therefore, for every 2 points you heal you gain 1 hate. There are also many misc moves that generate a set amount of hate, however I do not have any hard numbers on those. So now that you know the basis of what gains hate let's go through a rundown of a few typical combat sessions.
Ok this will be with a group of say 2 ppl for ease and 1 mob. I will go through some typical
combat actions that would happen.
combat actions that would happen.
Player 1 hits mob for 1000 dmg
Mob agros player 1
Mob hits player 1 for 1000 dmg
Player 2 hits mob for 1000 dmg
Mob agros player 2
Player 1 hits mob for 1000 dmg
Mob hits player 1 for 1000 dmg
Player 2 heals player 1 for 2000 dmg
Player 1 hit's mob for 500 dmg
Mob hits player 1 for 1000 dmg
Player 2 heals player 1 for 1800 dmg
Player 1 Misses
Mob hit's Player 2 for 1000 dmg
Mob agros player 1
Mob hits player 1 for 1000 dmg
Player 2 hits mob for 1000 dmg
Mob agros player 2
Player 1 hits mob for 1000 dmg
Mob hits player 1 for 1000 dmg
Player 2 heals player 1 for 2000 dmg
Player 1 hit's mob for 500 dmg
Mob hits player 1 for 1000 dmg
Player 2 heals player 1 for 1800 dmg
Player 1 Misses
Mob hit's Player 2 for 1000 dmg
Now what happens here you ask. It is simly that at this point, Player 2 has generated more hate on the Mob. With Hate scores of Player 1 = 2501 and Player 2 = 2901. 1 point of hate is gained when aggro'd in addition to other hate. Hope that helps clarify a little bit on what happens in fights only against a single opponent.
Now
let's demonstrate a simple fight against multiple opponents. For this example let's use 3 players
against 2 mobs. And for ease let's assume these are social mobs(if you attack one, other one
fights back as well)
let's demonstrate a simple fight against multiple opponents. For this example let's use 3 players
against 2 mobs. And for ease let's assume these are social mobs(if you attack one, other one
fights back as well)
Player 1 hits Mob 1 for 1000 dmg
Mob 1 agros player 1
Mob 2 agros player 1
Player 2 hits mob 1 for 900 dmg
Mob 1 agros player 2
Mob 2 agros player 2
Player 3 hits mob 1 for 800 dmg
Mob 1 agros player 3
Mob 2 agros player 3
Mob 1 hits player 1 for 700 dmg
Mob 2 hits player 1 for800 dmg
Player 1 hits Mob 1 for 800 dmg
Player 2 hits Mob 1 for 1200 dmg
Player 3 heals Player 1 for 1600 dmg
Mob 1 hits Player 2 for 800 dmg
Mob 2 hits Player 3 for800 dmg
Mob 1 agros player 1
Mob 2 agros player 1
Player 2 hits mob 1 for 900 dmg
Mob 1 agros player 2
Mob 2 agros player 2
Player 3 hits mob 1 for 800 dmg
Mob 1 agros player 3
Mob 2 agros player 3
Mob 1 hits player 1 for 700 dmg
Mob 2 hits player 1 for800 dmg
Player 1 hits Mob 1 for 800 dmg
Player 2 hits Mob 1 for 1200 dmg
Player 3 heals Player 1 for 1600 dmg
Mob 1 hits Player 2 for 800 dmg
Mob 2 hits Player 3 for800 dmg
Now you ask why did this happen? Well let's go over how much hate each player has gained. First let's go over Mob 1's hate list. Player 1 = 1801, Player 2 = 2101, Player 3 = 1601. So Mob 1 switched it's focus on attacking from Player 1 to Player 2 because he had gained more hate by outdamaging Player 1. Now for Mob 2 which is the tricky one, Player 1 = 0001, Player 2 = 0001, Player 3 = 0801. Now the reason Player 3 has 800 more hate then the other players is because of the heal he performed. While dealing damage add's direct hate to those recieving the damage. Healing adds hate onto the list of anyone Agroed on the recipient of the heal. And since Player 1 was on Mob 2's hate list from the engage do to them being social when Player 3 healed Player 1 he gained 800 hate on Mob 2's list as if he had delt 800 points of damage directly to Mob 2.
there it is... what yall think?
-Edit - In hopes of makeing easier to read... sure i'll need to do another few though before it is finished.
-Edit - Changed coloring on the combat junk. help a bit?

Is your Enter button broken? I can't read a big block of text like that on a hangover.

Much better, perhaps a bit of clour to help differentiate player 1, player 2 and the mob.

I think it would be easier if you forget about the attacks the mobs do and just focus on who holds the argo.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it would play out like:
Player 1 hits Mob 1 for 1000 dmg
Mob 1 agros player 1
Mob 2 agros player 1
Player 2 hits mob 1 for 900 dmg
Mob 1 - maintains argo on player 1
Mob 2 - maintains argo on player 1
Player 3 hits mob 1 for 800 dmg
Mob 1 - maintains argo on player 1
Mob 2 - maintains argo on player 1
Player 1 hits Mob 1 for 800 dmg
Mob 1 - maintains argo on player 1
Mob 2 - maintains argo on player 1
Player 2 hits Mob 1 for 1200 dmg
Mob 1 - switchs argo to player 2
Mob 2 - maintains argo on player 1
Player 3 heals Player 1 for 1600 dmg
Mob 1 - maintains argo on player 2
Mob 2 - switches argo to player 3
