Currently offensive specials are not granting medical XP, only heals. Hopefully this will get fixed.
Failing at novice CM is common unfortunitly. The resist rates will go down as you increase in CM. Applying shock also helps.

Grind it with med xp in a decent group. If you get a handful of fighter types to follow around it goes quick. I recommend the DWB, it is low level now, but everything in it is enough to get xp off of. My crew took a lvl 35 medic in there the other night and got him around 200k med xp by taking our time and letting stuff beat on us.
Also a great place to grind any xp to be honest.

I am new so don't bash me if this is dumb. I am not getting any XP when I poison, disease, or set a MOB on fire and then someone in my group kills it. Is this supposed to happen? I only get xp when I heal people in my group right now. I am a 1-2-0-1 CM and it seems like 80% of my attepts to poison, disease or set on fire will fail is this common?

it happens to me too. i really took it for the healing but i dont seem to heal for very much right now.
