Thread: So i am back...

i was away from the game for nearly 4 months for more reasons than you all care to hear. i came back when i stumbled across the main site again and saw that they removed the PvP flag for wanting to be involved in the GSW. i've always HATED it that PvE players like myself were FORCED to PvP just because we wanteda Star Wars game to feel like Star Wars...

i have my own oppinion of the CU, but i am not here to rant. i have come to ask a few questions of long time MCMs.

as some of you may remember, i played a MCM for a VERY long time before changing my template to work on the an FS character. now that i am back to the game and we were given the option to respec, the FIRST thing i did was return to MCM. i missed it so much it was killin' me. however, the skills and the change in function have me a little baffled.

i was wondering if a few CMs could offer some strategy advice on playing the new CM

what are your favorite soloing tactics for MOBs?

what are your favorite soloing tactics for NPCs?

how are you gaining medical XP beyond healing yourself (solo)?

is the medical XP for offensive meds borked? or are we really NOT supposed to gain medical XP for offensive specials?

any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

thank you for your time.

heh, welcome back

I actually haven't done any CM stuff yet post-CU (due to my CM being on TC), so you're better off asking the other folks for their opinion. as far as I know though, you get xp at the end from healing anyone that's in combat.

HEY PAPPI!

great to see you again!

thanks for the info, i will be asking around and see what people can tell me.

i DID make a change to my character today that i am enjoying. i went Master Bounty Hunter for the second time, and it is making a GREAT combination with MCM. i was on Dath today stomping the life force out of Night Sister Rancor Taimers (level 77-80) and Enraged Rancors (about level 75) completely un-buffed. just me, my armor, my carbines, and my CM skills.

it was a lot of fun.

I'm considering CM as one of the possible profs to go with commando on one of my other chars, but I want to try out CM skills first when they un-mothball TC.

what are your favorite soloing tactics for MOBs? Nuero, dtoss, thryoid rupture, paralyze, run, root (if you have it), dps dps dps, snare (when root breaks), dps kite, rinse repeat when necessary. Soloing takes ALOT more work.

what are your favorite soloing tactics for NPCs? see above unless ranged npc's in which case its DoT, thryoid, then your ranged specials for the kill.

how are you gaining medical XP beyond healing yourself (solo)? Solo you need to attack stuff more your level or slightly higher. 1 or 2 levels higher. If you heal yourself alot and do damage the exp is split down the middle. Cant do much about that unless your grouped and do nothing but heal for full exp.

is the medical XP for offensive meds borked? or are we really NOT supposed to gain medical XP for offensive specials? No one is sure atm and it hasn't been tested thoroughly either. Heck healing wounds doesn't even give med exp.

If you're going MBH I'd suggest you drop CM and pick up at least the speed tree of another ranged profession. MBH is ok but is more of a ranged enhancer profession.

Healing has become more essential as they nerfed everyone's heals, nerfed mana...err MIND regen, and inserted a level system. Stuff you knew as tough is now gimp easy. Stuff you knew as really tough is impossible to do without paralyze exploiting.

i have taken up MBH and it is working REALLY well for me atm. i was on dath kickin' some Night Sister butt (level 77 NS that is) and having a great time of it. i will try some of the tactics you suggested.

thanks again for your input

One of my favorite tactics esp if you dont have master cm, or your facing high lvl mobs is to shock. this causes your other cm skills to stick much more often. after you shock you have no problem causing poison, desease, burning, slowing, decreaced recovery, slowed combat, paralization and all the other cm goodies.

one question is will we ever recieve xp for using these skills? i mean i can only take mobs down to 1 health w/ poision and fire so i have to use a regular attack or such. if i didnt heal the whole battle, taht means i get full xp w/ whatever weap i used for the final 1 dmg. i think this is slightly annoying. is this intended or will it be fixed in the future?

YES! i found out about shock just last night. thanks for the suggestion!

i have also found that i can use a 'ground and pound' technique using MBH's ranged knock down. i've found that my CM skills will stick FAR more frequently if i apply them while the baddie is knocked down.

as far as the Med XP... i was wondering the same thing. it seems a little silly to me that they should remove ALL med XP except for healing one's slef in battle (i am talking solo here of course) i am hoping it is not intentional, but rather an oversight that will be FIXED here shortly.
