What do you consider to be the best Combat Medic makeup and why?

Some that I thought of CM/Doctor/Rifle Specialist

CM/Master Rifleman

rifle too slow in my opinion, as long as heals are a combat action, slow weapons will make it harder to heal..not to mention the ideal range..

i think pistoleer or carbine is more feasible

Hello,

Aspiring combat medic here. Not quite there yet, but i've been healing quite a bit out in the field. Have to agree with Elorna. Rifle will slow your reaction time for healing your mates, and as a medic i normally find myself working well under a rifle's ideal range. Although many like the pistol for the faster rate of fire, bodyshot line & pistol whip. My weapon of choice is the carbine for the nearly comprable rof, suppresive fire, action shot and ranged knockdown (they can't hurt your mates if they can't get off their butts). Although the rifle spec could be a lot more feasable once you've gotten ranged healing. However, fighting at rifle range kind of puts a bullseye on your head for opposing snipers. I'd imagine it'd be quite hard to heal if your mind pool has been headshotted to oblivion.

it's a bug with the combat animation.

it's not supposed to stop the movement for the animation but it does.

there is no "best" setup for CM. it all depends on how you want to play.

My setup will be Master CM, Exploration III and Carbineer with 2 branches maxed and 1 @ Tier 3 but i have afriend for the Artisian part (i.e. resources, finding locations for harvester etc.). without that, this setup would be kinda tough on the resources.

My plan is to go master combat medic/master carbineer. Here are my reasons

#1 I love healing people... even if they do not tip... i do not want money i want to help people... if they want to tip me thats great if not then I am happy to be of service.

#2 I love to group and attack with carbines... what can I say I love combat in this game

#3 Being a combat medic will allow me to heal damages and wounds and allow me to continue fighting longer than most.

My concerns

#1 No medic class can heal Mind Pool Damages (not wounds because that is the job of an entertainer), so you watch your buddies die in combat.

#2 Resources for stimpacks... do you need to have surveying skills... and scout skills are need for the hides. (Cure for the organic problem... I was going master BH so i have a lot of scout skills... whenever I kill I will harvest the resources and place them in the bank at anchorhead... stockpile on resources and when the time comes gradually surrender my scout skills.) Perhaps the other resources will be available on the market for a decent price... money is not an issue with me.

#3 Various bugs for the class, will be fixed soon, so debating on whether I should work on Master Combat Medic or getting Master Carbineer... I am already master marksman so i will eventually have to untrain skills but I think I am better off working on master medic, then master carbineer, then master combat medic. Will figure out later.

About the animation bug...this also happens when you are hit while running. Its cause quite a few incaps for me and is a PITA.

I am working on CM myself. I am also working on entertainer just enough to be able to do some basic mind healing in camps. I am going for pistol because most combat healing is done at close range and if you get the right pistol you dont have a close range negative modifier. Also have basic artisan skills with surveying maxed out so I can get those much needed materials. Only thing left is scout so I can make camps in the wilderness but unfortunately they dont give you enough points to do all that. I have seen plenty of scouts in the game though so that really should not be a problem getting someone to make a camp.

I think this makes for a very versatile CM.

Personally, I am going for a CM/Pistoleer combo. I've been pretty pleased with it so far. Pistols aren't bad on the HAM drain and you can fire pretty quickly and heal at the same time. Makes for a good combo.

Also makes you a fairly good solo'r if you can't find a team.

I have found that unless I went far up the carbine ladder I am fairly useless to the people I hunt with, being with 2 master TK's and several other near masters the damage I can do with my carbine is crap. The high level of enemies they are fighting (ones that can deplete whole bars with one shot) requires me to apply an immediate stim so that they are not slain when they are hit. For this reason I am just staying a Carbine Specialist, I had worked on some Entertaining Skills but recently decided that along with healing why don't I make sure my mates are properly fed. So I plan on being a CM/Chef and ever since I have started making happy meals for my companions I have received nothing but praise.

We will never be rich but no other character is loved like a Combat Medic.
