Thread: Combat Medic + Melee, doable?
I am currently a master swordsman, working my way up the Fencer and Scout tree. I had intended on going the CH route, but have recently given though to trying a Fencer/Combat Medic approach. I realize that a lot of CMs don't like to be in the front lines but being up front is what makes life fun for me.
My reasoning for trying a melee/CM combo is that I could use the disease and other attacks from range to pull and weaken creatures before they close to combat range. And of course I would have the heals and other associated benifits of the medic skills.
So has anyone tried this, and if so how did it work? And also, how do you think this would work out in PvP?

at the current time, disease and poisons suck pretty bad, so if you are getting the class to pull like that, i really dont think its worth the trouble of getting the class...just pull with a gun..even if u have no skill in it...ull probably do more damage lol...
at this point the real asset of CMs is ranged stims...
As a melee, you will most likely be the one taking most the damage...that means ull be healing urself the most...healing self = no xp. healing self with stim as doesnt ever get faster its always stuck at 10 sec regardless of diagnostics.
I would say ur better off with a Melee/doctor template since u will be using stims more than ranged stims being the main tank...
as for CMs not being on the front lines...im a pistol CM, i get right up and down and dirty so, i dont see where you can same CMs dont get on the front lines...so do and some dont...beside poison/disease ranges arent that long.
I would recommend doctor over CM for someone on the front lines...you are basically missing the benefit of what many would see as the best ability of a CM, ranged healing
but do what is fun and makes you happy...
I treid a melee Combat Medic at first... it works but it wastes A LOT of skill points. Since you need ranged support from the marksman tree you end up having to spend points on both brawler and marksman. It just makes more sense to use guns.
