I was BH/Pistols pre-cu......I respeced to BH/Carbs after the CU. Yesterday I decided to try out CM before we lost the respec ability. It seemed like I wasn't getting any experience from my CM specials. For example, some guildies and I were hitting a grizzled dewback lair. I would only get medical experience on the dewbacks I healed my groupmates on. If I didn't heal on a particular creature, but I did lay down some DOTs I'd get zero med experience. This appeared to hold true throughout each mission. Is this right? Is the experience for the CM offensive specials calculated differently then when I use bacta spray or toss or whatever? Is healing the only way to advance as a CM? I would think I should get something for laying down states and DOTs.......bug?

Is it right? Well IMHO it isn't right.
Is it the way it works? Yes that's the way it works right now. You can only get Med xp from HEALING while IN combat.

Bug? Again I hope so... It's easy enough to master MCM in a large group though. I was out last night with a full group, and I got about 1,300,000 Med xp in a few hours time.

It's really easy to rake in the xp. Just watch out for all the agro when you heal :-)

Sounds like you have a similar problem to what we doctors have. One of our special abilities is wound healing. No one heals wounds during combat, though. Now that we can only gain xp in combat, we get no xp for healing wounds outside of combat, even in a med center. Which is why I'm trying to gain support to change this.

I don't want the CM's to feel left out should this endeavor succeed (was just checking the CM board to see what was going onwith you post-CUand see if you're having similar problems), so maybe all of you can join in on our cause by adding that CM's get xp for using their DOTs? Seems very silly for both of our professions to have special abilities that you get no xp for.

My post in the General Game Discussion forum is in my sig, if you're interested.

Thanks!

Oh, and the aggro problem is affecting us, too. Who'd have thunk that protecting a fellow group member's health was done by automatically getting all the aggro on yourself for a simple heal.

RE the original post, i just wanted to say that i am a Master Combat Medic and Master Bounty Hunter and i am having a BLAST with it. i had lots, and Lots, and LOTS of problems with the CU, and i still have a few issues, but now that i am getting used to my character's build post-CU, i am finding that the combination is REALLY REALLY fun. just as an aside, i played a Master Combat Medic / Master Carbineer on the test center for nearly the entire time the froggieswere up. i like carbines...scratch that, i LOVE carbines, they are hands down my favorite weapon now that they jacked up TK. i can say however, that i find my PERSONAL play style much more effective with BH than with Carbineer. i still use all forms of carbines (excepting of course the Master Carbineer and Master Squad Leader carbs) i am just finding that for ME they are a much more effective tool when combined with the BH specials than they are with the Carbineer specials.

at any rate, give Master Combat Medic / Master Bounty Hunter/ Marksman 0044 a try before the respec period is over.... i think you will enjoy it.

tell me about the aggro. Last night was my first run at CM. I ran up to two guildies and hit bacta spray and aggrod the whole spawn that chased after me and incapped me twice. Boy was I surprised. I should have read these forums prior to doing the switch. I also found it interesting that my current template is CL59 and I was in a group of CL 70s and 80 and as soon as combat began the spawn began chasing me down. I enjoyed myself thoroughly, but it is an adjustment. I may keep CM permenantly and add my before BH and/or carbs
