Thread: Has anyone ever had a poison work in PvE?

I've never had a poison work on creatures that have more than a little HAM, from aggros on Yavin IV to herbivores on Corellia, they ALWAYS resist the effects.

Are poisons basically only worth anything if your Master CM or using them in PvP? Can we PvE'ers expect any changes to make poisons more useful?

I finally made some poisons a few days ago to test out on some Imp Spawns. It worked on them, but I was surprised that I didn't get any xps for the kill. That and the fact he didn't attack me when I finally got him to not resist the poison. I followed him around in his little circle he was walking while he was taking damage.

I have them work in PvE all the time, but usully its faster just to shoot them to death. Also if they die to just your poison you will not get any combat experience from it. I dont even think you can loot it even.

The GCW needs serious attention. If you agree with that also please post a reply on this thread

I use poisons all the time in PvE to compliment my pistol bleed shots so that targets go down more quickly. I use AoEs when there are a lot of easy mobs around a hard one so that the little ones just die from the poison while I concentrate on the one with the most xp. I would be nice if we could loot those that died from poison. And I would be just thrilled if we could get faction points for those that died by poison alone.

But to answer your question again, yes I use them all the time and they work fine.

Yes, as a master CM my poisons stick all the time to just about anything. Resists are very rare. They're also quite good against very high level creatures, since it completely ignores armor. Its a great "softening up" of the bad guys - since its (as far as I know) the only damage type that doesnt take from everyone elses xp.

Yes, they are very usefull PvE, if you are having trouble getting em to land try experimenting on Ease of Use a little bit more, I belive that is what effects the change to Land, or not to.

I recently change to carbine from pistol and fighting multiple mobs, ae Action poision + Action bleeds + AE generaly drops 10k HAM mobs very quick. Example damage...

Usualy 350 on my C poisions, ticks about ever 3 seconds

Action Bleed II can get upto 1k-1.5k bleed with Laser Carb

Action Bleed I stacks with bleed II for another 400-900 bleed

Mob generaly dead after a few ticks.

Snorbals on Lok are particulary good for this since they move very slow and you can generaly kite 2-3 at a time.

Yes, experimenting ease of use increases potency, which increases the chance for the poison/disease to land. If read and found personally that 80 is a good minimum, since 80 potency usually sticks. Also, using materials with high Potential Energy seems like it would help potency, though I'm just going off of common sense, not the schematic, since the game isn't up right now.

One of my favorite PvE moments was when I decided to lob an AOE Health Poison at a large group of scyks.

I sat there, incapacitated, as over a dozen scyks were slowly poisoned and dropping dead around me.
