Thread: Here's my top 5 changes Id like to see for CM's.
Here's some simple, reasonable changes I'd like to see to CM.
#1 - Make lootable components worthy of use.
Weaponsmiths get em, Armorsmiths get em, hell Doctors get em with Janta Blood.
What do we get? NOTHING but components that SUCK in the long run. Rancor Bile gives us alot of charges, which is ok for PvE, but I dont see anyone camping Rancors to make a living off the stuff. I play around with it once in a while.
Make Rancor Bile have RANGE MODS instead of POWER. I mean really wheres the logic in that. If Im replacing it with something that gives range, Id like it to have SOME range on it.
#2 - Fire needs a way to be put out.
All DoT's should have a way to be put out. Give the CM another cool thing to have in battle, by some form of Combat Support to put out the fire. I think Rangers should have this too, but due to the nature of Combat Medics being battlefield-doctors, I think it applies here too.
#3 - Let us tweak weapons to give Poison DoT's.
Tell me how sweet of a change to the CM market this would be?
You can loot these things all over the place now. Low Level Poison DoT on a weapon is far from a rare thing to see. As everyone shouts to death, we are a Chemical Warfare Expert. Being able to apply poison to a weapon would be very cool, and create a market for us. Something they should definately think about.
(Note: I dont mean super strength poison on a weapon. I just mean mediocre mods, making weapons a little more interesting.)
#4 - Give us more Combat Packs to cause status effects.
Ever hear of Tear Gas? What about stuff that slows down your reaction time? Stuff that knocks you out?
I think CM's shouldnt get more damage as they could maybe get some real disease packs. A flu causing you to puke. (This would be good in battle, puking is annoying.) Something to blind you perhaps. A plague that causes a stun status hit. Etc.
We dont need more damage we just need viability. For those who cry about us being a combat class, I havent seen anyone comment on how all other combat classes get some form of status effect, and we do not...
#5 - Make the combat line take combat xp.
This is just something Id like to see to make me feel a bit more accomplished in becoming a Master Combat Medic. Anyone can master CM in a day or two, its really extremely easy.
But you know what? While leveling up a combat class, I quickly realized that within a day I could power up my combat xp to 300,000 if I tried hard enough. Being a master of course, this made it so easy. But if I was not allowed to use such large poisons.... It would be a bit trickier.
This would force us to leave a cantina and actually go out and do stuff to work on Combat Medic. Anyone who uses poisons in PvE knows about the ridiculous Combat XP you get, so put it to good use and make CM not so easy to do. I literally mastered the profession from Novice Medic in less than 2 days. Thats lame.

Bravo! I was thinking the same thing for the weapons thing the other day. I mean, it'd make the game more diverse, and we'd have more profession inter-dependency. We could work with Weaponsmiths to make some of the most powerful weapons in the game, it could be a very powerful thing. It would give us our biological weapon that we want, and it would give everyone it too.

I second this. Since we now have the ability to get obscene amounts of combat xp, make one of the trees use it. Otherwise, this is simply a combat xp pump for a secondary profession. Since the only combination of MCM/-something- that makes sense is to use the already required marksman skills/elites, this would allow somone to completely powerlevel rifle/pistol/carbine.
#3 is an awesome idea...
This would actually allow us to make money, considering we are not that quick at dishing out damage PvE wise. And while we can make money selling our poisons and disease to other people, in truthfulness there is not very many combat medics, and most cant afford 3 to 4k a stack we have to charge due to the rare resources
I agree with #1 the most of all.
Infact I think we need more lootable components for every crafting class. It really adds to the loot thing and makes the money flow to combat classes, then back to crafters and then back and forth.
This is how an economy works.
Say it with me devs "e-c-o-n-o-m-y".
I would add this one to the list.

those are all great suggestions, and some of which have been suggested many times before, and will probably get suggested well into the future.
The only item i dont aggree with is the Fire DoT healing. That should really go to the Doctor line, as they are the ones who do the state healing (disease/poison/stun/dizzy, etc). Instead we should be the ones INFLICTING such states. Poisons/disease that cause dizzy, puke, stun, etc would be awesome additions in my opinion.

I kind of like this idea. If implemented, would like to see it be for healing -only- though, not for pet/vehicle/mount pulling. Perhaps even require that we buy them from rangers or scouts? If we were required to buy them from rangers/scouts, then maybe we share this ability (at master medic?) with doctors, and entertainers can heal BF (doubt this happens tho...)
