Thread: combat medic or doc?

i cant decide which to go with carbines? can combat medics heal really well or can docs heal better then cm's in the field?

Master Doctors can heal single players better (900+ heal without enhancers). Master Combat Medics can area heal players (500+ heal without enhancers), and range heal a single player (700+ heal without enhancers).

I'm a Master Doctor and Master Combat Medic.

it depends on your play style. right now i solo all the time, so MCM works best for me. i heal resonably well, but really with the DoTs and specials from MBH i am all about 'get them before they get me' i just out damage the bad guys, healing myself enough to stay alive.


now if you perfer a more drawn out fight, taking a bit more time (no DoTs to add to damage) you can take Doc hit yourself with bacta infusion and keep yourself alive all day long!


again, it depends on your play style...

will group heal heal the combat medic that does the heal?

docs heal themselves better than cm's?

1. Yes, CM's have 4 ways to heal themselves. Bacta Shot, Bacta Spray, Bacta Toss and Stims D's
2. Group heal (Bacta Spray) will heal yourself
3. Docs have better single person heals, but no offensive abilities and no debufs.

CM's are far superior to Docs in my humble opinion (i've been both in post CU)

Just to offer an alternative opinion, I've played a lot of both TKM/MD and TKM/MCM since CU, and find each have their charms ( and quirks ).


As stated above, Docs do have the best single-person-heals of the two. I'm particularly fond of /bactaInfusion, and am a little addicted to it ( a Heal-Over-Time is a wonderful thing ). I prefer Docs for small parties ( 1-2, maybe 3 ), as the healing power is enough better I find it more than worth the offensive power of CM.


However, CMs have a great deal going for them. In small groups, they have great DoT ( Damage Over Time ) attacks that doctors don't get, and their damage healing is almost as good as Docs. In large groups, CMs really shine with area heals ( and the ability to hold aggro like no other class can at the moment, for good or bad ), and the DoTs are still quite effective.


Right now, I'm playing TKM/MCM and enjoying it greatly. It bugs me at times to see "black rot" on players that I can't help, but that's part of the choice. In the long run, I'll probably switch back to TKM/MD when /respec is over, but you never know.In the end, CMs are at least as capable ( if not more so ) than docs in combat.


I have a fondness for the out-of-combat abilities that doctors have, and it's made the decision very difficult. I keep trying to find a way to have both and TKM, but it's unfortunately just impossible.

Doctors


-Can heal wounds

-Can buff (Health/Action/Mind + Diease/Posion resistance buffs)

-Can drag players (Combat medics can also if they get 0/0/4/0 in Medic)
-Heals more damage than Combat Medics

-Can bring back people from the dead (So can Combat Medics)


Combat Medics


-Can infect players with poision/diease/fire (Which does a lot of damage)
-Can heal players from a distance

-Can bring back people from the dead (So can Doctors)


Conlusion


Both professions are good. With doctors, you can buff yourself and heal your wounds at any time which is great! With Combat medic, when PvP or PvE, you can infect your enemy then blast them (with your rifle/carbine/pistol). While you shooting at them (doing pretty decent damage), the infect (posion/diease/fire) is working in the back groung which will kill them twice as fast. Basically you need both Doctors and Combat Medics on the battlefeild honestly. Each profession has advantages and disadvantages. It's basically which advantage do you wany more. Both heal but doctors can buff/heal wounds and combat medics and heal from a distance and infect people. What do you favor more...that is the key question.

It's really up to your playstyle.

You could go MCarbs, MCM, 4/0/0/0 Doc

Would offer some very nice healing (Bacta Infusion, Bacta Toss, Bacta Spray, Bacta Shot) as well the CM poison, fire, crowd control, and debuffs.

One of my chars has the template TKM, 4/0/0/0 CM, 4/0/0/4 Doc for heals and self buffs. The other is MCM and working on Pistol and Smuggler skills for crowd controlling abilities.

Lots of choices are availible to you .
