Thread: combat medic or doc?
I'm a Master Doctor and Master Combat Medic.
it depends on your play style. right now i solo all the time, so MCM works best for me. i heal resonably well, but really with the DoTs and specials from MBH i am all about 'get them before they get me' i just out damage the bad guys, healing myself enough to stay alive.
now if you perfer a more drawn out fight, taking a bit more time (no DoTs to add to damage) you can take Doc hit yourself with bacta infusion and keep yourself alive all day long!
again, it depends on your play style...

1. Yes, CM's have 4 ways to heal themselves. Bacta Shot, Bacta Spray, Bacta Toss and Stims D's
2. Group heal (Bacta Spray) will heal yourself
3. Docs have better single person heals, but no offensive abilities and no debufs.
CM's are far superior to Docs in my humble opinion (i've been both in post CU)
Just to offer an alternative opinion, I've played a lot of both TKM/MD and TKM/MCM since CU, and find each have their charms ( and quirks ).
As stated above, Docs do have the best single-person-heals of the two. I'm particularly fond of /bactaInfusion, and am a little addicted to it ( a Heal-Over-Time is a wonderful thing ). I prefer Docs for small parties ( 1-2, maybe 3 ), as the healing power is enough better I find it more than worth the offensive power of CM.
However, CMs have a great deal going for them. In small groups, they have great DoT ( Damage Over Time ) attacks that doctors don't get, and their damage healing is almost as good as Docs. In large groups, CMs really shine with area heals ( and the ability to hold aggro like no other class can at the moment, for good or bad ), and the DoTs are still quite effective.
Right now, I'm playing TKM/MCM and enjoying it greatly. It bugs me at times to see "black rot" on players that I can't help, but that's part of the choice. In the long run, I'll probably switch back to TKM/MD when /respec is over, but you never know.In the end, CMs are at least as capable ( if not more so ) than docs in combat.
I have a fondness for the out-of-combat abilities that doctors have, and it's made the decision very difficult. I keep trying to find a way to have both and TKM, but it's unfortunately just impossible.

You could go MCarbs, MCM, 4/0/0/0 Doc
Would offer some very nice healing (Bacta Infusion, Bacta Toss, Bacta Spray, Bacta Shot) as well the CM poison, fire, crowd control, and debuffs.
One of my chars has the template TKM, 4/0/0/0 CM, 4/0/0/4 Doc for heals and self buffs. The other is MCM and working on Pistol and Smuggler skills for crowd controlling abilities.
Lots of choices are availible to you
