I am sorry if this is the wrong thread. But what i can not understandis why can I not change status outin the field. I am in a group and thier healer and i am combatant, for example. I get killed because when i heal, every animal or NPC seems to like what i am wearing and want the clothes for themselves and argo me. ok so after three incaps i am slain. i go to the cloner and get in the group box that they are in trouble and need help. so i get on my bike and get there as quickly as I can only to find i can not heal them. I tell them that I am no longer combatant adn try the old method, heh heh which i now know doesn't work anymore, and doesn't work. so I must go back to the op on endor (because a find or search for a faction rep come up nil) and have to fly to a planet where there is one. go combatant and then return to endor. bythis time the group which i am supposed to be protecting scattered, and some died because i could not heal them.
my question is: why did they take away the ability to change your status in the field? that seems quite sensless to me.

It is annoying. So I just make sure everyone in my group knows that I can only heal them if they are 'On Leave'. This seems to be standard now for hunting/xp groups (nice way of promoting the GCW!)
I stay 'On Leave' as this the status you go to when cloned.
I agree that it can be a pain to find a recruiter sometimes. This is something Mayors should be able to place in player cities. It wouldn't be much of a hassle then.

It smells more of a bug than of a removal of the ability. The dev's haven't said anything about it really.
Unless you're planning on doing faction missions is usually a much better idea to go "on leave" as often as possible in order to resolve this problem. Or of course you can make a detour to the Imperial outpost on Dant. or the Rebel outpost on Lok for a quickie faction change by using the "travel" feature of JTL.
The problem with the ability to go overt near a city was solved when faction bases were introduced. There wasn't much of a plausible reason to have a recruiter in a city as the city could truly be attacked. Not too mention that they could be placed just outside of private buildings or cloners. Faction base can be attacked and once the turrets are taken down can be raided by opposing faction members. Of course faction bases still have many issues that need to resolved at this time but I wouldn't hold your breath with the dev's current track records on fixing issues.
