Thread: dropping MCM considerations.

Hey guys I've been an MCM for about a year and a half.I unlocked a week or so before CU. I found pretty good success with MCM / def 24xx /heal 4xxx & the rest novicejedi boxes against BH's.

That's been pretty good in 1 vs. 1 scenarios. Well I finally gave up MCM the other day so I'm now CM x4x4. Ive noticed I land a lot less frequently & paralyze doesn't last long ( yes because it's not the improved one). Additionally the warmup / cooldown seems to take longer. That could just be my imagination can anyone confirm that throwing takes longer when your not an MCM?

In any case my main interest lies in protecting myself against BH's. So with that I'm trying to determine what I should do.

Here are my options:

Keep MCM? This way I could get 1 mastery jedi profession or... 3 rows of 4xxx & 1row of2xxx in jedi skills.

GetCM x4x4? This would allow a little more flexabilityin my jedi skills but at the cost of dropping MCM for dabbler .

Drop MCM altogether? No good DOT's against BH's but I'd be able to escape pretty easily if I have cloak & forcerun.

& finallywhat kind of damage output and speed should I expect with x4x4?&is it that different fromMCM?

I hate the idea of dropping CM but Im in a bit of a pickle. The heals are useless but the other skills have been great.

just a shame cause I like it so much & have been a CM one for so long. For survival though I'll do what I need to & am just looking for some advice. please help with your opinions.

Thanks.

I've gone down to 0400 CM from master, thanks to Jedi eating up SP like crazy.

Couple of things to note..

Jedi Skills..
Enhancer 4000 has:
Combat speed buff, Root, and Force run. How's that for a bargain tree. You Dont need 4000, but it's very nice despite the crying about the 95% damage reduction that FR2 has over FR1, I just wait for it to wear off, or do driveby DoTs. It's very amusing. (and a KD from saber throw will still KD while having FR2 on)

Combined with X002:
You get a snare, and force channel. Snare is good for slowing down those pesky rifle kiting type BH, it's only got 32-35m range however, but you can FR + Snare/Root + DoTx2 + Run away giggling. I'm assuming youre of the mind that you want them dead, not just for you to survive. Channel, quite frankly, is a must. I believe that regen rates are not working as they are supposed to.

So there goes your need for XXX4 CM

I'm at the point now where CM 0X00 is the next to go. I can hold novice, but thats all. Fun times.

Healer 4000: Yes very good idea, yes you can still lose, but it's a big feather in your cap.

I went with 4204 sabers, 2 handed reminds me too much of a swordman, and I've always thought swordsman were closet kiddie fiddlers, but armour break is needed at the end of the day. I took 1 handed for the bleed, and the amount of BH that come woefully under prepared for a dual DoT + Bleed never ceases to amuse me. One day someone is going to show up with fire/poison/bleed resist buffs, and well..I'm gonna lose heh.

I have no defender, yet, but that's next, most likely 0044 or maybe 0440 havent decided yet, but it will be XX4X something. Force aura is a good thing.

If you've still got /resp available to you, I'd swap out Defender 2400 for Enhancer 4002. That's just me. And you should prolly start going up the sabers 0004 tree asap, if all else fails KD them hit FRun and leg it.

Thanks Carthax,
That's really good advice. Nice to know my CM skills will still be somewhat valuable & what skills will augment the loss of my former cm abilities.
I think I have 1 respec left til it's over so I'm either going mdef or the route you suggested. I'd get mdef mainly be of the 3.2 mil in xp required to master I'll have some respec pts left over so may get healer 4xxx.
If you've another mastery suggestion in place of mdef & 4xxx healer... I'm all ears.
For what it's worth I tried Mpowers yesterday & thought it was really cool. problem is the forcecost of the actions & the fact that I got killed in 2 secs from a bh cause I didn't know how to use hte skills ...

In any case after my final respec I'll focus my template on the lines you suggested in addition to keeping my existing skillset.
thanks
