you guessed it... Bacta Spray.

i am working on finishing up the FS xp i need for my very last line before my exit quest. i have been hanging out at the village helping groups stay alive to get thier 50 outlaws and 25 pirates, and i have been in A LOT of battles now....LOTS

during that time i realized that bacta toss is great when fighting a few mobs at a time, and when you have other healers in the group also keeping an eye on the health of the party...but when you are the ONLY healer in a group of 8 and all of them are h*ll bent on getting hits on as many mobs as they can, bacta toss becomes about useless.

to keep a group of 8 players alive in a HEAVY assult like a wave of mobs on the village, my only choice is to use bacta spray. even if the group splits up (which by the way if you only have ONE healer you should NEVER DO) i can run from one area to the next using the cool down timer during travel to time the next heal.

with a tightly knit group, all aware of the situation they are in, all moving and fighting as a group, bacta spray is pretty much the only heal i have to use. three, maybe four times over the weekend, we managed to pull together some VERY smart groups. they KNEW the agro i was going to draw by keeping them alive and were pretty well prepaired for it. in one of these groups i managed to pull in just over a million medical XP. now before anyone says anything i KNOW we are in double xp right now...but a million in one wave of attacks is not bad. not bad at all, considering the waves last about 20 minutes.

and that brings us to the point. the agro and just how bad it is.

how bad is it?

over the weekend i was hit so much by enemy fire while keeping my groups alive that i went through 3 assault chest plates, 3 sets of assault leggings and 2 assault helms...

after two or three bacta sprays, there were instances where LITTERALLY 15-20 sith were all firing on me, no matter what the others tried, no amount of healing (once it was me and two docs trying to keep me alive with everything in our power) can overcome that kind of firepower.

all in all, i have been having a blast. i've died more this past weekend than i have in the past near two years of play. but i have also rezzed more players than i can count, and kept even more alive and on thier feet while they worked on thier FS quest. HOWEVER, i really would like to see the amount of agro adjusted. i am NOT asking the agro for healing be removed, just adjusted down slightly. it is rediculous that i can watch a master rifleman take an NPC down in health by a full two thirds, i heal that rifleman and the NPC switches his agro to me and NOTHING the rifleman can do will switch it back...same with melee classes, i can watch a master swordsman beat a sith sensless with a power hammer, near to death... one bacta spray and the NPC is unloading on me with all the fury of... something reallyfurious.

this is not a new issue, nor a new request, just another appeal to get some help with the problem

I used that effect to save my wife's Doctor in a fight with 5 L82 Bantha (vs the 2 of us).

She was going down with all 5 on her. I killed one, she had nearly killed another but her health was dropping fast.

Ssssssspray!

Suddenly they all ignore her and run over to me. She kills the one she was on, and between us we take out the other 3.

Real lifesaver - but still shouldn't happen that way imo

(EDIT: Forgot to say, my toon was Master Pistols/Master Doc/4000CM )

As a Tank/Healer, I actually benefit from the super taunt effect of the Bacta Spray. TK on his own has no way to keep agro on him/her. CM has no way of keep agro off him/her. Combine the two, and you get a toon that doesn't care what attacks him, and they can heal to their hearts content.

I love coming to the end of a fight and seeing all of the corpses in a circle around me.

Lots of fun last night when we decided to agro about 10-11 level 80 pickets at once. I was tanking them all for about 2-3 mins before I got incapped. As soon as I dropped, the rest of the group started taking a battering. Once I got up, hit CoB and starting healing again, the agro came back to me and we finished off the pickets. Hectic, difficult and fun. That's the way it should be.

So sorry, but I personally don't want any changes to the agro from healing :-)

nice if you don't have to wear armor, but as i stated in my original post, the agro is so rediculous that i went through hundreds of thousand of credits worth of armor because i wanted to keep my group alive. hardly seems worth it to ranged professions who like the idea of ranged healing, and ranged DoTs

i understand you like being able to draw agro, but it shouldn't come from healing, it should come from area taunt... the way it was intended. just because healing and taunt are broken by being reversed, does not mean it shouldn't be fixed. again, let me say i understand you liked being able to draw the agro to you, but those who are TKM or Master Swordsman without CM should ALSO be able to draw the agro to themselves. they are after all, tanks as well. TKM / CM should NOT BE the only viable tanking class. saying you don't want a change to the agro of healing and a fix to the agro of area taunt is a bit selfish. 'nothing is working right but i can make the broken specials work for me' is not a helpful attitude.

area taunt needs to be fixed - so tanks can use it as intended
the agro from healing needs to be reduced - so HEALERS can use it as intended

The :-) at the very end of that line about not fixing the agro from healing, should have told you I wasn't being totally serious. I'll try to make it more obvious in future.

I know it needs to be fixed, and I'm sure it will be in a few months.

If you've ever grouped with me you'll know I am certainly not a selfish player. After all, I'm playing a tank/healer....something designed to help the entire group rather than myself.

For the moment, I don't feel bad about using a broken special to help myself or my group. It kinda makes up for all the stuff that hasn't worked for me in the past, or doesn't work currently (the /infect command for one).

Oh, and by the way, swordsmen are not tanks...they are damage dealers. But I know what you meant.

yes, damage dealer is the way they are listed, however it is another wonderfully borked part of the CU

It's better than taunt if your a tank type.

i agree ! I've been doing the exact same thing, healing and rezzing in the village for the past two and a half weeks. And don't get me wrong, i love it. I just find it funny, when other players in the group tell me: " You're a carbineer, no AoE's please..." while i implicitly know that i'll have to 10 times more aggro generated by Bacta spray. Also, even if your group is composed entirely of experienced L80players, there is NO WAY they can regain aggro once you've bacta sprayed the group... i would like that fixed too

This is why my partners and I, when the time came to decide which of our little regular-grouping trio was going to heal, picked the person who's been a Smuggler snce launch(me). You guessed it: Feign Death.

Granted, it fails something like 40-60% of the time at master, but there's nothing quite so useful for a CM or a group than popping a Toss and/or shot on the tank(which usually grabs aggro in and of itself), then capping with a Spray and falling over to shake the aggro. Works really well... problem is, as we all know, one shouldn't have to be a Smuggler or TK or anything else to be an effective and to survive as a CM.

That said, Smuggler's great for CM. use the CC to hold off critters til you've got all your DOTs and states laid, then lay waste-like.
