Thread: Medic faction problem?

As we all know, medics use there own xp, thus theres no need to devide out expierence points equaling for combat between the group....or is there?

Faction points are nearly impossible for a group medic to obtain as most of the time is spent running around healing others and thus no faction for the medic except for the measly 1 or 2 faction points awarded at the very end for killing the base.

This is expecially true for those who have used many skills into mastering doctor/combat medic and lack the major combat skills to gain faction alone.

This isnt really a problem for Combat medics since we are dishing out poison and ranged damage. If you play a purely healing role then yet is sucks cause you will never get FP.

We all know that the combat medics offense is a joke, and this was really a general medic post

I agree the CM poisons suck, but I can still solo red cons with my new carbine and if my server ever gets something better than mid level carbines I will be even more deadly.

I believe a /group autoshare(or: /group autofaction)- command for factionpoints is what we need.

At least something similar to the credit-share already implemented.

leaving it optional is a good thing, not everybody wants FPs, this way a mixed team could still run without people having to worry about what the other half of the team is doing behind the hill.

This wouldent just solve the problem of medics not recieving many FPs from places like the PvE- battlegrounds, where we certainly deserve to earn our share (id like to see a team beat the Battlegrounds without medics) , but itwould also allow for a more evenly shared FP earning between people doing a lot of damage and new players with poorer equipment or lower skills This way powergamers and casual players would be able to enjoy playing together more.

Xp should still be shared according to damage witch seems fair as it takes a lot more to make level 4 in combat skills as a BH than as a marksman. Sharing XP would allow for powerleveling as there is no restriction on who you choose to team with in terms of skill level,as a result of this I find it hard to believeit will ever be implemented.

It could be argued that medics are just in the same boat as people who dont have any combatskills, like artisans, entertainers, chefs and whatever hybrids... these professions wouldent be affected by the shared faction and would still be stuck at running deliveries. I believe however that medics are a vital part of making the FPs from combat and as such we should benefit from our contribution.

One reason to be conserned with this could be people Powerleveling on FPs at lower levels. This would certainly give imperials a huge advantage, 3 stormtroopers make your life much easier as anovice brawler. I dont feel this issue would be a real threat to implementing the command though. There is no real problem with this as long as players dont get xp from what faction pets kill. Stormiesare known not tolast long in PvP.

If you only use "combat" in combat medic for ranged heals - yes it is.

If you used your ranged support exp and did not give up your marksman tree (or better yet extended it into novice elite profession) and you use high level poisions - you are AWESOME damage dealer, and can probably one-shot half the opponents in between throwing heals.

yes but poison are still slower than guns...get resisted more than guns miss

since damage done determines FP, CMs will never get as many fp as everyone if they heal at all...since they will be giving up one hiton the mob in order to heal...hence we are forced either to fight or heal...not do both...

> since damage done determines FP

That's only true for exp, not for FP.

In PvP Deathblow determines FPs, you don't even need to do any damage at all.

In PvE doing a minimal damage will yelled you same FPs as ever other fighter in group, I usually do 2-3 non-styled shots and get same amount of FPs as people who did bulk of damage, you can test it quite easily by teaming up with another player and attacking a structure, you will get different exp but same FPs (tested last weekend).

Also another effective thing I found working is to have probot guarding main damage dealer, this way he won't take damage but will bring you FPs while you heal / poison / assist on other targets.

actually you will only get the same FP for doing missions as the other in your grp. When you just go and kill NPCs without them being missions, FP is based on damage just like XP. So will mission reward faction is split amoung the grp, the fp for killing the npcs guarding the target is not. Test it out for urself. Go grp with a fellow faction member and go kill a random faction npc without attacking...you will get no xp or FP

PvP deathblow and faction fp is right tho u jsut need the DB...

but i think the bigger concern for many people is PvE faction battles like the BGs

Without attacking AT ALL - You will not get FPs.
With two-three pot-shots - You will get same FPs as he does.

actually i tested this out with a BH...he was using rifle and i was using pistol. He was attacking mind pool and i was attack health. He did much more damage then me while i was taking the hits and beating on health...he obviously did more damage then me since the npc died to mind incap...final total 5 fps for me 18 for him...

I did test with me and my friend BH (funny both our friends are BH ) to attack rebel structure.
I did 3 regular (non-styled) shots and stopped attacking, he continued shooting, I got 10 combat exp and 19fps, he got 30 combat exp and 19fps and then we both got mission FP rewards on top of it (don't remember exact number).
I'll retest it tonight with logs and SS just to make sure.
