Thread: to the real combat medics
during hunts, the pace borders on frantic and it demands my fullest attention. i keep my range to target as close to ideal as possible - swapping pistols as the mob resists dictate. i make certain that as much of the group is within reach of an aoe stim as possible and if not, reachable by a long-range stim pack (65m+). i monitor every member's ham - sometimes to the exclusion of my own (doh!). pulling mobs with pet/disease, i am also putting armor on/off, poisoning an incoming hostile, directing my rock beetle, healing pets and troops while dishing out max damage to my target - usually from 5-10m out. i have to be mindful of my own health - which i am remiss in taking care of at times - hitting the muon hotkey in emergencies. because i know if i go, it could spell disaster for the group.
when it's all over and everyone is going home alive, i get paid.
for those of you who love being a CM, you know what i'm talking about. we are usually misunderstood (even by our own profession), often hated and at best, taken for granted. we don't make much money because docs can make better stims and there is no mass market for combat meds. with the few points remaining, most of us have found it necessary to devote them towards a weapon as opposed to a marketable trade. but we love what we do and we wouldn't want any other profession! many of us have forsaken the holo chase and other more "glorious" professions because we know that appreciated or not, we can take a group into battles against otherwise insurmountable odds... and then bring them home alive.
so, to all you real combat medics out there - and you know who you are, i salute you!
*Applaudes*
I couldn't have put it in better more politaclly correct words. I have trained extensively in Doctor. I know which resources to get and how best to make the stats work to my advantage. I took those doctor skills into my work of Combat Medic. I bring people home alive. With the big holo craze many people have lost the need for a CM/Doc to keep there hunting party alive. But that is my business. In the heat of battle those range area stimps are wonderfull things. And when I can't keep up with the damage the enemy is doing, a good ole Rez to bring that person back to life.
Poison, Disease I only use when I am solo with Zues, my pet. But when I am in a group I am a Doctor first. I am in the business of keeping my fighters alive, cause without them I am in a world of hurt, just as if I go down it is the same for them. Buffs, ranged stimps and rez are what I put on my resume everyday. Rarely do I put poison or disease in there. I am an Master at keeping people alive and well in fighting status.
But as a combat medic soloing I am the greatest. Zues takes the blunt of the damage and I put poison, area poison and disease with a good ole pistola to work. But in a group or in PvP my job is to keepmy fighters alive! So I lean more to the medic side of Combat Medic.
Amen! People give up on this class way too easily I've had master for 2 weeks maybe 3 and I still feel like I haven't even begun to work on my strategy.
i sure as hell wont drop CM anytime soon, it fits my style and i enjoy it, craftin and all
and when it comes to stratgey- im probably doomed ![]()
but bein a good CM comes with pratice. ![]()
practice makes perfect
I know exaclty where you are coming from. I LOVE this profession. Despite all the holocronning that happens I cannot bring myself to drop CM. No matter what I truly love my job description ![]()
All aspects of this field are sooo fun. (even if crafting is major PITA)
Taking a group out and bringing them home alive... That is where we are kings (and some of us queens :smileyvery-happy![]()
I like to make it interesting and run under another title and don't tell my group of strangers that I am MCM. It is fun to surprise them when the battle starts to go south. Wish I could see the look on peoples faces when they take me into group under Trickshot title when I throw out that first AoE stim. Or I hit someone at a distance with a ranged E just before they drop.
nice post.
1 comment. It shouldn't take you 6 months to understand resources and stats. It might take you that long to accumulate choice ingredients without a wad of cash - buta modest sum and judicious acquistions through others will help you get the ingredients you need.
Whatever you are making, the right hand panel has a summary of required ingredients and some verbage about what your are making. Scroll down and notice the specific qualities and the ratio of those qualities. If you use materials that are high in the categories listed, then your base success and your ability to experiment it higher will increase. For example, a good food crafting station requires (from memory) high Conductivity. So look at your minerals. The ONLY stat that matters for that project becomes Conductivity.
Other factors contribute to your success in crafting. Use a good Food Crafting tool that isover 6in efficieny. Also try to use a crafting station that is over 12 in efficiency. Personally, I use a +14.85 crafting tool and a +35 crafting station.
You'll need a Doctor to make you a schematic for the stronger sub components - if you aren't a Doc yourself. This can be a challenge to find a cooperative Doc. Be persistent, and make it worth your while by running a large quantity through the factory - several thousand of each resource. Don't waste your time or the doctors time by asking for a schematic to be made with only a few hundred resources.
For any combat medics on Eclipse, look me up and I will help you get schematics made.
Good luck!
