Hey guys, i just aquired master CM a couple of days ago and had my first pvp experience today. The problam was that whenever i got over 20m from my target it said i was out of range when i tried to apply poison. I take examine on my poison and i see that the range is "18". This is rancor enhanched mind poison with 343 eff, and since i know nothing about poisons i figured i would ask. Whats going on here? Did i get scammed when i bought my poison for 35k/100 uses?

Rancor bile increases the power of a pack a little bit, and the number of charges significantly. However, it SIGNIFICANTLY reduces the range, and the area of effect of the pack.

Without Rancor bile, with the resources on my server, a pack can have a range of 46m (which is a bugged value of 92m throwing). However, with Rancor Bile I'm lucky to get 20m on the pack (which is 40m actual throwing distance).

I use Rancor Bile for large-scale things, like spider venomed poisons/diseases for Krayt Dragons and nightsister elders--targets that will be distracted by my group when I toss these. Other creatures, or in PvP, I use non-RB packs, to keep a higher range.

If:

1)you were 20m away from the target

2) your pack had a range of 18

3) and you are a master combat medic (or anything above 2xxx CM, really)

Congrats, you found a bug.

/bug it, and log as much as you know (where you were with coordinates, where your target was, the range of the pack, your skill, etc.).

The target was a jedi with forcerun3? Hmm... This sounds likea variant of the "I'm following somebody at 5m, but I get an Out of Range message" issue that all medics know about (at least the ones who did medic "for real" as opposed to healing tumblers or entertainers).

Basically, what happens is your system is a little lagged from the server, so what appears is that your computer pictures a running person as 10m away, but the server thinks the target is really 15m away. I don't know about forcerun3, but I can imagine it letting a person run 20m in a second, so if the target appeared 18m away it might really be 38m away and out af range.

Hmm, does anybody know a jedi who wants to test the effect of force running in regards to position lag (*cough* Texxie *cough*, seeing howthe jedi correspondent can get skills at will ) ? If it's 3m or 5m, it's not that biga deal. But if a person is viewed as 15m or 20m off, I think we might want to throw our voices in with the medics in getting that issue looked in to.

If the melee classes can have super-strech arms to attack from 15m to deal with this, it seems reasonable that healing and poisoning get a little extra wiggle room (maybe put in a check saying "if target is moving then add 10m to the range, and if on a vehicle or force running add 20m" for all stims and poisons).
