(Properly) Quoting Thunderheart from:

"18) Warcry/dot(poison/disease/fire)

We’re looking at the TEF’s portion of this issue and expect Combat Medics to be changed soon. I’ll post the proposed changes In Development as soon as I have the information."

Can somebody clarify the issue this is addressing? Is this an issue with warcry/poisoning (and watching the ticks while the victim is helpless to act)? Is this an related to being able to warcry/poison (by using an adjacent person as the target of an area poison) somebody who is TEF'd to you and not get a TEF? (At least that's how it works in PvE, which I hope they will change soon.)

"expect Combat Medics to be changed soon..." I hope this means that our past 5 months of not being mentioned in the patch notes is over. I wonder what TH has in mind, and if he will see it fit to tell us in this forum.

I thought I would start a new thread about this, as the last reference to this was buried within a (somewhat deceptive) post that others that others might have missed. Not to mention that this might warrant some discussion among the combat medic community.

Oh, and of course, please do not use this as an excuse topost a "Ha! The nerf bat is coming!" trolling post, as nobody wants to see that (and there are plenty of others on the first page to add to).

Edit: Un-nerfed line break. Annoying forums.

I 'think' what it means (and I could be completely wrong) is that somebody who gets hit by an AoE splash (meaning they are not the primary target) is not attacking the thrower and vulnerable to warcry. Because of this they cannot attack while the AoE poison is ticking away at them.

It's probably going to come down to either serious changes in warcry (again) or anybody with a DoT on them will not be vulnerable to warcry (what do you mean you want me to poison you with a 75 point health poison when you are buffed?)

What it means is that a player can be hit by a warcry(usually first a KD/Dizzy, then warcry) and then hit by poison/disease. The warcry makes it so the player can not react/heal etc while the poison/disease ticks away.

Normal attacks break the warcry, DoTs don't.

That's what the first part means. Second part? Well, that's the discussion isn't it

I think this is in mostly reference to jedi's whining because jedi's get a healthy dose of intim/warcry, and this stops them from even being able to heal themselves.

The general players should have realized earlier the fastest way to get the dev's to nerf us was to have the jedi's whine about us. I cant remember the last time they messed with a combat profession unless it had something to do with jedi's and their weaknesses to other combat professions...

If someone attacks you using group TEF with non-direct AoE poison or a warcry, you can't attack them back, because they don't get a TEF. That's what this is about, I think.

Yesterday, I ate the woman's precious begonia, and today I have dismembered the amaryllis in the bedroom window. She is furious over the loss of her darling house plants! I find it highly gratifying.

Okay, then aside from the obvious "splash effect is now considered a normal attack" (which it should be anyway but is not, presumably because of system limitations), does anybody have any good ideas of how to fix it (or any insight into what the devs are planning on trying)?

It's a bit worse than that. Not only does a poison/disease toss not break an existing warcry, but the actual poison/disease tick won't break it either. So given proper coordination, you can effectively dot someone to death and give them no chance to heal or respond in any way other than running away (at normal speed since you can't/burst or /forcerun while warcried).

It will be interesting to see how they fix this without screwing up brawlers even more (the first warcry nerf was a huge hit to master brawlers).

This definitely needs to be fixed. Any time you do any damage on anyone in any way, or affect their combat status in any way, you should be subject to retaliatory attack. You should become attackable.
