Thread: CM crafting help

ok Im new to this CM thing, am a master CM and want to start making my own poisons but I dont know where to start exactly.


First should I pick up +25 in skill tapes for CM experimentation? If I gotta, I gotta...........


What are the important components I need to worry about?

- in particular with potency, effectiveness, duration, etc...


Im mainly looking at making mind poisons and diseases for PvP... since that is what this character is for...


What are the best creatures should I get components from?

- I hear that the Fire Breathing Spiders in the Geo cave drop good venom...


But what else do I need besides venom etc...




I guess I just really need someone to show me the ropes on t he crafting side of it all... Shoot me now but I grinded my master CM with ABEC's... :x

If you want the experimentation mods....anything over 20 is wasted.

Spider venom from the geno caves is a replacement for infection amplifiers (they increase the damage)

Many CMs also use rancor bile with their spider venom...it decreases the range, but adds a lot more charges.


You must get the resources for the advanced components if you want to make your own meds. Check the FAQ for the resources you need. A lot of people are/will be dropping CM soon, so you might be able to pick up some of the stuff cheap.

many of the other professions have a crafting apron or whatever that gives them a +5 to experimentation... is there one for CM as well?

What items should I look for and need to be top quality?

There is no crafting medicine apron for CMs.


You really need all the advanced components for DoTs. Before this upcomming mini-publish I would have said you could skip on the resiliency compound, but that is no longer the case.


For poisons and diseases, you need really good fungus and insect meat. You also need good liquid petrochem fuel, radiocive, and copper.


For the advanced components, you need the following with high OQ and DR....

Titanium aluminum (forget about high DR here, it is capped insanely low)

Eleton reactive gas

Tollium reactive gas

Class 1 radioactive

Class 2 liquid petrochem fuel

Yavin fiberplast.

there is also the cm faq which is stickied...it will prolly answer all your cm questions in recards to crafting...but generally for your resources you want high Decay Resistance and Overall Quality.

ok well I just got some acklay venom recently with a damage of 784, unfortunately I read in the FAQ that those cant be used with combat poisons... boo



also I came across some rancor bile but I have no idea what is good or not right now...


I got 7 of the 5 / 70

I got 4 of the 5 / 70

and I got 2 of the 7 / 79


Are any of these very good or useful in creating a high damage poison...


Ive heard of people making a 1000+ tick Area C's and Regular C's...


Not exactly sure what I need to make those... but am looking at making a trip to the geo caves to get some of the fire breathing spider venom soon.


So what #'s should I be looking for really if I want to make a 1000 tick poison...? I dont know what is really high and what is low and what is average for resources, considering that this is the first time Ive ever had to really craft anything in the game...

Yes the 1k tick poison can only be made by substituting Spider Venom for a Infection Amplifier. The bad news is that the Fire Breathing spider is a rare spawn and it drops the venom...you guessed it, rarely. Most noobs think venom drops like rain but in reality its so rarely used except for special occasions. Especially when you realize you only get 30+ uses before its gone from the game completely unlike super krayt crafted weapons or "legendary" loot weapons.


It will probably be alot easier to buy it off of some lucky player who happened to kill the FBS when it had the venom. The average venom is power 90 although that 1 in 1000 chance might come around and you get some with power 170. With 90 its still way tough to get to the 1k mark unless you have some really darn good resources but it will be much easier with the 170 stuff.


Rancor bile can be nice if you want to preserve a poison/disease for many more uses than usual. The downside is that the range on the final crafted portion is going to take a HUGE hit. And with our newly nerfed range modifiers you'll practically be point blank to use them. Personally I recommend using them only on PvE Health poisons/diseases. You make however many different types and they will last practically forever (since you wont have many reasons to use them). Just be sure to hide behind the person tanking the npc when you apply.

ok so I was curious about the radioactiv and the liquid petrochem fuel...


Do they need to be class 1 radioactive and Class 2 liquid petrochem fuel or can they be any class? or at least that class or higher? right now the current resources on eclipse arent that fantastic...

For the advanced components, it needs to be specifically that: Class 1 Radioactive, and Class 2 Liquid Petrochem Fuel. for use in poisons, it requires "Liquid Petrochemical Fuel", which can be of any type, or even unknown. However, the advanced subcomponents are very specific, and you have to obey the schematics to a T.
