Thread: How to control which stim is used?

Hi folks, I'm a new master CM, having just come over from the doc community.

I've got a question about arranging my various stims in my inventory, to make sure the right one is used at the right time.

As far as I can tell, if I have in my inventory Stim E, Ranged Stim A (old stock, I've got some R Stim Es cooking in the factory :smileywink, Area Stim C, then if I just do

/healdamage

it seems to use this logic:

  • If the target is in standard medic range, use the Stim E

  • If the target is outside standard medic range, use the Ranged Stim A

  • Never use the Area Stim, unless I click it in my inv or toolbar

But occasionally I get a really low heal on myself, as if it used the ranged stim rather than the Stim E.

So what I'm asking is: Am I right on how the logic works, and if not, how do you guys manage your stim inventory and toolbars so that you use the right stim at the right time?

Thanks for any advice.

Not as far as I know. When I was CM/Doc I simply lined up the Stims themselves in the toolbar.

I've never trusted the game logic to use the correct medicine when I need it to, ever since the beta days. Which is why I've always just put the stim in my toolbar and used it from there.

No messy game logic to deal with, but it does take up valuable toolbar space.

Hope that helps

There's no predicting what stim will get used if you have multiple stims in your inventory (other than regular stims not firing from beyond 6 meters). I'm sure most Doc/CMs have at least one toolbar with nothing but meds. The other advantage to putting the stims on your toolbar is that you can tell at a glance how many charges are left.

Hmm, thanks folks.

As a doc this was never really a problem - I just used Stim Es, and beforea major outing I would get a bunch out into my inventory, and I was done.

Slightly complicated by the fact that I use a macro in my toolbar for heals - using /peace to avoid any weapon delay on healing. This is probably even more important now I've taken up rifles (at least, until I reach a speedcap).

I guess I'll just have to live with the heal delay now - ah well.

Thanks for the advice.

the reason you might not be healing too much sometimes might be that either you or your target has a high BF. Or also, the healing ammount is random (from certain ranges of course) so you might be unlucky sometimes

You still can use a macro. Put the stim in an unused pane. Develope a macro similiar to the following:

/peace;

/ui action toolbarPane05;

/ui action toolbarSlot00;

/ui action toolbarPane00;
