Thread: Chief Medical Officer Required for Imperial Navy (RP/PvP PA on Starsider)
WHO WE ARE
Hell's Hammers form an elite force within the Imperial Navy. When
at full strength, the Hammers consist of four Fighter Squadrons and a
Stormtrooper assault group. Two Squadrons are used to spearhead
assaults, with the third and fourth Squadrons being held in reserve to
reinforce the front line units as required, or be deployed as the situation
warrants. The SpecNav unit, consisting of Stormtroopers and Advanced
Recon Scouts, are used to make precision strikes both on the ground,
and ship to ship.
As the unit is currently under strength, it operates without a reserve,
relying on the abilities of its pilots & troopers to gain its objectives
quickly and effectively. This self-reliance and the growing autonomy of
the unit within the Imperial command structure has helped maintain the
unit's already high morale. The pilots troopers look to each other and to
thier commanders, rather than to other Imperial units, for support in
times of need.
The experience on Turak IV has led the unit to act independently
whenever possible, preferring to plan its own actions rather than
catering to the logistical concerns of Imperial command. If the Hammers
were not so successful, this attitude would not be tolerated. But
inspired leadership has led the unit to victory after victory, a state of
affairs which Imperial command is only too happy to accept.

AVAILABLE POSITIONS:
SpecNav: Imperial
SpecNav Troopers is very much a secret, the Rebel Alliance and even
most of the Imperial Navy is unaware of their existence. The SpecNav
program is an unusual joint effort between the Imperial Army and the
Imperial Navy. The Imperial Navy hopes to gain dangerous soldiers that
can land and establish beachheads thereby removing the need to rely
on traditional Imperial Army troops. On the other hand, the Imperial
Army hopes to gain mobile Intel operatives based aboard far-ranging
ships that can be deployed at a moment's notice. So far, this
experiment between the Imperial Army and the Imperial Navy has been
successful in creating dangerous, highly-skilled and crafty soldiers.
These troopers came into service around the time of the Battle of Yavin,
they are also the Imperial Navy's most elite troops. SpecNav is tasked
with acting as a special forces unit, their soldiers being trained to have
more independant thinking than the standard Army ground forces, given
the clandestine nature of their operations.
A typical SpecNav unit comprises of the following:
Stormtroopers: Stormtroopers are totally
loyal to the Empire and cannot be bribed, seduced or blackmailed.
Stormtrooper unit organization was separate to that of the Imperial
Army and Navy, although this elite unit supported both arms of the
Imperial Military. They followed similar organization patterns: squads,
platoons, companies, battalions, regiments, and battlegroups (called
legions). A stormtrooper battalion had 820 men. The health of
stormtroopers was the responsibility of the Naval Biological group.
Specialized Stormtrooper units include:
- Aquatic assault stormtroopers trained to operate in marine
environments (seatroopers). They feature modified scout armor, with
breathing tanks, flippers, and a helmet-mounted spotlight. They were
assigned to aquatic garrisons, and are trained to operate patrol vehicles
such as waveskimmers and wavespeeders. - Blackhole stormtroopers were a special branch of Imperial
stormtrooper answering directly to the Imperial Intelligence agent
Blackhole. Blackhole stormtroopers ware the same armor as regular
stormtroopers, except that it was painted black and coated in a stygian
-polymer substance that baffled sensor readings. - The cold assault stormtroopers, or Blizzard Force snowtroopers,
ware specially modified armor for cold weather environments. It includes
a more powerful heating unit, and an airtight fabric oversuit. To facilitate
breathing, a breather hood coveres the faceplate and fed into the suit
liner. - Desert stormtroopers, or sandtroopers, are identical to normal
stormtroopers except for their specialized training and slightly modified
armor. This elite corps emphasized independent-thinking more than
standard stormtrooper units. - Stormtrooper scout units were usually assigned to garrison posts.
Their mission profiles often equipped them with speeder bikes; as such
these men were usually called biker scouts. A scout's armor is more
flexible and lighter than a standard trooper's. - While standard stormtrooper armor provides some protection
against hard vacuum, the zero-G stormtroopers, or spacetrooper,
division trained for exclusive space combat. They wore massive suits of
armor, powered by servomotors. Each suit functioned as a miniature
spacecraft, with propulsion systems, sensor systems, and weapons. In
full gear, a spacetrooper stood over two meters tall and was twice as
wide as an unarmored soldier. In standard deployment, spacetroopers
struck from assault shuttles that carried them to a target. The troopers
then launched, using their weapons to secure and board the vessel. A
spacetrooper's armor featured concussion grenades, mini-proton
torpedo launchers, a blaster cannon, and laser-cutters. - Radiation zone assault troops, or radtroopers, were a little known
division of elite stormtroopers trained to handle irradiated combat zones.
Their armor featured a lead-polymer substrate and a silvery reflective
finish. - Other specialized Imperial trooper divisions included flying
airtroopers, tunneling underminers, and magma troopers who crushed
revolts on volcanic mining worlds.
SpecNav Stormtroopers are divided into Squads as follows:
• Assault: One of the oldest and the most
feared arms of the Legion, there is no Squad which takes higher
casualties in training than Assault. Although recruits are limited, the
Assault arm continues to train by attrition – if you make it through
training you are combat ready. Of the 88 percent who fail to make it
through training, nearly on quarter of these are combat fatalities. There
is little exaggeration and a lot of perverse pride in Assault’s claim that
“two die for every one that gets through.” The ferocious training and
indoctrination of Assault arm does provide strong unit cohesion for its
troops, as well as instil a willingness to fight on despite heavy
casualties. These veteran squads have a fearsome reputation which is
very much deserved.
• Urban Assault: These troopers are
highly trained streetfighters. They are well versed in how to turn the
constricted urban fighting environment to their best advantage. These
troops specialize in making do with whatever weapons they have, from
sniping from rooftops, to making homemade explosives. They are
experts in hand-to-hand combat, light weaponry, street-savvy, stealth
and demolitions.
• Heavy Weapons Specialists: These
troopers provide protection against enemy air and ground vehicles, and
give the Legion the extra punch needed to crack through a tough
position. Heavy weapons specialists also received training in starship
gunnery. They are quite well trained, though their casualty rates are
high. This is because in a battle once an artillery piece's location has
been revealed, enemy effort to disable or destroy it becomes
paramount. Heavy Weapons Specialists are trained to die rather than
abandon their guns.
Pathfinders: These
troopers make covert drops onto enemy planets, establishing
beachheads, and holding this territory until relieved by Imperial ground
forces. Imperial Pathfinders completed their extremely difficult mission
profile by traveling light, and relying on surprise to overwhelm
resistance. Pathfinders were trained in survival, alien species
recognition, and speeder-bike operation. They were equipped with rifles,
grenades, and if space allowed, a speeder-bike and heavy weapons.
Pathfinders fall into the following categories:
- Scout Troopers / Advanced Recon: These
troopers are trained in\ using their terrain for the best tactical advantage
in combat. Scout Troopers are required to be much more mobile than
their urban counterparts, and as such are equipped with speeder-bike
vehicles. Advanced Recon however, are tasked with locating an
“painting” potential targets, as well as the following: - Investigation: The IXth prides itself on it’s
talent and professionalism when conducting an investigation. When in
the field, officers have direct communication links both to the IXth HQ
but also to all military forces in the area. These links are pre-approved
by the appropriate Sector Moff or Grand Moff. Because of this, officers
may therefore call on a considerable degree of firepower if things
become rough. This action was taken as a way of cutting down
response times to legitimate Rebel threats which are too large to be
handled even by a team of competent officers. It is worth noting that this
tactic works on both heavily developed and largely rural worlds, albeit for
different reasons. On urban planets officers agents can operate
unnoticed, and then call in the military to "swarm" the unfortunate Rebel
base. On rural planets, the officer cannot expect to devise a convincing
cover identity, but the IXth’s reputation alone is normally enough to gain
the agent the cooperation of fearful locals. In either scenario, Rebel
operatives are flushed out and eliminated. - Surveillance: The IXth uses the most
advanced surveillance techniques & equipment available in the Empire
to uncover beings or activities which might be helpful to the Rebellion or
otherwise obstruct the Empire's plans. If and officer has enough
suspicions, they will turn the case over to the Operations Officer, so
more thorough action can be taken. The second purpose for conducting
surveillance is putting the fear of the Empire into citizens who can be
scared out of helping the Rebellion. This is the use to which the rawer
recruits and less skilful veterans are employed.
Those beings caught by the IXth who are suspected of knowing more
than they have been willing to divulge are sent for interrogation. The
information uncovered is sent back to IXth Command. No one really
knows what then happens to the suspects. No one really wants to
know. - Infiltrators: Among the most feared
members of SpecNav, these troopers were specially chosen for their
distinct hatred of the Rebel Alliance. These troops are trained to slip
through the enemy's lines to sow confusion and consternation in
Alliance ranks. Their main weapons are vibroblade and garrote.
Naval Division: The Navy has responded to its rapid growth by changing
its command structure, introducing intermediate levels of command
which did not exist in the Republican Navy. Most of the junior level
officers were promoted to these intermediate levels, while the senior
officers kept their ranks but had the scope of their command enlarged.
An admiral in the Imperial Navy commands forces over 10 times as
great as an admiral did during the Old Republic.
Naval Personnel :
All vessels serving in the Imperial fleets have varying numbers of the
following personnel. It must be noted that all game statistics are for
"typical" individuals in that category - specific skill levels may vary
dramatically from individual to individual or ship to ship, depending upon
training level, mission profile and countless other factors.
- Pilots : From the men who fly the capital
ships to the men who leap into the cockpits of the TIE fighters, Imperial
pilots are the mainstay of the Imperial Navy. They are the necessary
element in the military branch charged with protecting the space lanes
from pirates, smugglers, alien invaders, and Rebels.
The top pilots in the galaxy are found in the Imperial Navy. These pilots,
following the glorious and time-honored allure established during the
Republic, attend the premier academies throughout the Empire. Within
these fine institutions, the Empire teaches these men duty and
promotes the idea of maintaining order, as opposed to defending
against aggression. TIE pilots form an elite corps within the Imperial
Navy. Each candidate for admission into the rigorous TIE training
program must undergo a strenuous screening and testing process. After
all, they are being prepared to fly the best starfighters the Empire has to
offer. - Gunners : Gunners are a special sub-unit
of the Imperial pilot corp. Any Imperial military vessel larger than a one
-man TIE starfighter makes use of these trained weapons masters to
handle the high-tech arms employed by the Empire.
Most gunners are either pilots in training or pilots who failed to make
the grade in all the skills necessary to fly a vessel. Nonetheless, a
gunner must have a keen eye, superior reflexes, and a rapport with the
specialized equipment. Gunners are trained to handle everything from a
single light laser cannon up to turbolaser battery emplacements and
even the now-destroyed superlaser that was the main weapon of the
Death Star battle station. In addition to their hands-on training, gunners
learn to work with specialized computer helmets that not only offer
protection but are equipped with macrobinocular viewplates and sensor
arrays to assist with targeting fast-moving fighter craft. - Naval Troopers : To protect its vast
number of capital ships without relying on the help of the Army, the
Navy has created a corps of troopers to act as soldiers. These men,
trained in traditional combat skills, also learn skills needed to survive
aboard the mighty vessels that patrol the galaxy in the name of the
Emperor.
These troopers wear the distinctive uniform and helmet once only the
province of the Death Star troopers. These soldiers dressed in all black
are deadly warriors, but they all serve other functions aboard Imperial
ships. They act as security, handle hangar traffic control, monitor
sensor arrays, and other duties when their combat skills aren’t required.
- Technicians: These troopers are trained
to operate and repair any equipment the Legion uses, and to build
anything they didn't out of available materials. Techs usually did not
operate as a unit. Instead, they were assigned to other units.
Technicians fall into the following categories: - Junior Technician: It is the responsibility of
the Junior Technician to assist the Chief in all manners. Their primary
role is to be on hand for repairs and maintenance of key IXth equipment,
and may also be required to be aboard any frigates used in a combat
operation. - Spacecraftsmen: Gunners by trade, the
Spacecraftsman can be assigned from any division of the military to be
used board any ship that requires gunnery support. They can hold any
rank, however when acting in this role, the gunner with the highest rank
assumes the title of Senior Spacecraftsmen, with the title of Leading
Spacecraftsman going to his or her direct subordinate.
Other Specialists: Other troopers includ transportations specialists
(drivers and mechanics), communications experts, translators, medical
technicians, supply specialists, and others. An example of a common
specialist within the IXth is listed below:
The Navy is tasked with the following:
· To secure, patrol, and defend orbital space around and the
trade lanes between inhabited planets in defense of all Imperial Laws
and Security
· To investigate, and potentially engage and destroy, all
manner of vessel judged to be disrupting or capable of disrupting the
peace of the Empire.
· To supplement and support actions and engagements
undertaken by the Imperial Army, in and above the atmosphere.
· To escort and defend Capital-Class vessels within the
Imperial Navy against all opponents, and especially enemy fighter
elements.
· To maintain the flexibility and adaptability of the fleet and
Imperial Navy so as to ensure success in their coordinated efforts
If you feel this is the right career for you, please go to your local
