hi all.
i am atm MF/MD, and i am considering going pure medical; master doc, master cm.
this means i will have hardly any combat skills. (though i spose a couple hours of buffing in CNET will get me all the xp i need to master...)
i know i will be mostly good for groups - that is my goal.
if anyone has this, how well will i survive in a raid or large group vs group? i will have no defence at all.
how well does running away help? (as Master fencer i rarely run)
if i do do this, what skillsshould i get with rest of SP? should i get scout terain IV? so i can runmaybe even from a jedi?seems anything else i would get does not seem to be really usefull anyway.
what about if i drop Doc to 2240? what shoudl i get then?
any other comments are wellcome.

Once you get your poison off there is no reason to stay in the front lines. Just head to the back and then monitor everyone's HAM's. You dont have enough points to get any sort of real defenses at all so you'll have to use agility as your defense. Most of the work you'll be doing will be fire suppression, state healing, poison/disease curing, and reviving. In PvP raids you'll be probably chasing down people left and right to cure but since no one really uses area effect attacks other than CM you shouldn't have to worry about taking damage unless they single you out. Parwan Nutricake, synsteak, and pikatta pie are your friends.

After MD/MCM, you have 18 skill points left. That's enough to get any novice profession and a first tier box. However, MCM already gives you a +50 terrain negotiation...which is better than Exploration 4 to begin with. You can get Exploration 1...but it won't help you run on straight ground...just up hills.
You can get either Pistols 4, Carbines 4, or Rifles 4 with your leftover skillpoints. Many players opt for this.
I alternate between Hunting 1 and Novice Artisan...depending on if I'm resource-hunting, or out on a group hunt and wanting to harvest.
In terms of survival...keep a full suit of composite on, lots of brandy and Ahrasa (focus food?), and stay in the back. Especially in PvP, you need to beware Riflemen.

I have a master doc/master CM.... switched from doc/TK and dont like the lack of physical defenses...
But that said...
on base defenses I stand in the base and scan my group list for people who are getting damaged or have states I can cure... if at all possible they come to me to cure... if they need a stim I run only as close to them as I can to toss an area-stim heal at them then I retreat back inside the base...
On occaision when I get plucky and a red dot shows up close enough I run out a bit and toss a area mind poison or disease at them... usually they retreat at that point, but after one round of that it actually increased the assault on my position...
I look at my role in this situation as purely defensive and healing with rare attacks out.. I can do far more good for the defenders with state cures and rez's than by running out to poison someone and dying..
On the occaisional base assault or raid I simply do my best to keep others alive with even less poison/disease chucked simply because I then become an instant target by the enemy ... negating my cures of my team mates..
I went on a base assault recently where I was the last person to die simply because I did not engage..

Poisons and diseases stopped giving combat xp (over 1 point anyway) about 5 patches ago.
And if the creature already has an agro (i.e. in combat), no he won't pay attention to your poison, unless he has finished off his current target. If you are the first to engage him, he pays attention to you unless someone else can distract him. It's the same way with all combat, and "taking the agro" from creatures.

ty for the replies
well i went half way only, for the time being.
i kept fencer 4000, and went cm 3004. (and master doc of course) all sp are used right now.
i went with some m8ts to the DWB and its cool to be able to area heal from far
bummer thgouh that you cant poisen SBD. damn there are a lot there, we killed 7 untill we started dieing. (only a small group of 7 players)
ok another question if i allready tryping:
i noticed that if i threw a poisen at a MOB allready in combat, i didNOT enter combat with that mob, though the poisen ticked nicley. but if i threw first, i was then in combat with him.
i also noticed i was gettign no combat xp at all after the mobs were dead. ill search for that now

that is not what i ment. I am an experienced fighter and have used /taunt many times to save my m8ts.
i was not talking about agro, i was talking about "entering combat" i.e. you getting the red x in your ham bar. Of course if you start shooting after someone else, the mob will not attack you, but you will still be in combat with him. i was not getting the red x at all, if the mob was allready in comat, thats what i ment.
another question: looting rights. say my poisen did the most damage, will i get looting rightes even thgouh i do not get combat XP? sry for the noob ???.
