Thread: New? Idea.. (res packs for CM's.. enhanced res pack's for doc's)

ok.. well i was thinking (ya.. ya i know.. i need to stop that).. and here was the general idea..

Res pack's for CMs..
give them to CM's somewhere within the CM tree and have them function in the exact same manner as doc packs do now..

Enhanced Res packs for Doc's..
work in the same manner as doc res packs currently work.. but in adition to their normal function will preserve any buffs the player had.. note: cannot be used 'in combat' meaning doc must be agro-free.. possibly require hosptial/camp/droid as well (stick in in with other 'heal/enhance' skills)

ok.. not perfectly concieved by any means.. but at least it gives me 1 more way to help out.. even if that is just bringing the doc's back to life so they can rebuff themselves and res everyone else

*sigh.. it seems no matter what idea i come up with to improve CM ability while being fair to doc's doesn't help one bit.. it just makes CM's a less viable profession for battlefield healing.. and brings the field surgeons 1 step closer to the front lines every time.. damnit.. stick the docs back in thenice white tent.. and keep them out of the trenches.. that's my home not yours!! GRRRR... /rant

My only reasoning against it is it's just overpowered, players would no longer feel as if they've lost something when they die, so as long as they have a doc around they'll just do whatever the heck they want.

This isn't a new idea and I see rez packs as a CM item rather then a doctor item myself, howeverb efore we start asking for more stuff lets wait for the CRDs.

*sigh.. that's a really rough issue with me right now.. waiting that is.. i've logged in for a grand total of about 15 minutes last week.. and about the same the week before..

i just don't enjoy the game as much as i did only a couple short months ago.. and can't really figure out exactly what if anything changed..

i still love the idea of a starwars mmo.. i still love the people (and hate those who deserve it).. been spending more of my gaming time coming up with ideas that i think would benefit the game.. and less time actually playing..

Rez packs and state packs all make sense for Combat Medics to have. In my mind, at least, CM's should be what doctors are today- running from patient to patient keeping them going, doctors the masters of pre and post battle. Unfortunatley, there is no way to impliment this without nerfing doctors to hell, and docs probably make up what, at least 40% of the population? I don't expect to see it happen.


Combat medic is the redheaded stepchild of SWG. Nobody wants an STD. Nobody wants to hear "I cant heal disease, I'm not a doctor," "nope, only doctors put out fire," and "poison curing is a doc only thing, terribly sorry." We are little more than an embarrarsing PvP flaw, with a neat stimpack animation and a mind heal that comes in handy sometimes, if you don't have a healer jedi with you.


So until the Devs realize that doc gets to be the king of pre, present, and post battle, spending less skill points to be more useful than a combat medic ever can be, we, the combat medics, will continue to be a doctor's annoyance and little more.


That said,this is an interesting idea, although I dont see how it would be useful, unless your group only had one doc and they bit the dust first.

I agree with that, Combat Medics really need to be more medics than they are right now... Honestly, how many Combat Medics actually become Combat Medics to heal people, and how many do it just to throw poisons at people? When I think of a "combat medic," I see a guy running around at Normandy with a red cross on his helmet, not a guy throwing disease packs at people.

SOE had a good start on this already: give the doctors the best wound packs, give combat medics the nice stimpacks... the former being better for med center healing, the latter being better for combat healing. However, the major flaw is that doctors are STILL needed unless you want your group to die of disease. I agree with the first post as well: resuscitation packs for Combat Medics, really great heavy-duty after-the-battle versions for doctors.

Yeah, some of the changes implied here could "nerf" doctors a bit I suppose, but really, if anything that might balance off their numbers a little bit... we all know there's plenty of doctors anyway. Plus I never said anything about messing with their ability to buff, which is what most doctors become doctors for in the first place.

Make it a master skill...not a dabbler skill...im tired of seeing dabblers getting stuff like that
