Thread: Focus or Willpower

Does everybody tend to focus more on focus or will power? (Breakdown by PvP and PvE preferable.)

I'm primarily a PvE player. I have had fairly regular access to doctor buffs, so removed almost everything from health and action to the mind stats. However, I do not have the funds to buy great deals of bio-engineer enhanced brandy, nor am I really entertainer buffed.

Thus for, I have have had 1100 mind, and 850 focus and willpower. (The logic behind the even split being that healmind hits both equally with wounds, and thus I should try keeping them balanced.) I recently realized that most of my battles were of the form "toss a poison and start shooting, maybe stim myself once throughout the battle". Therefore, having such a high focus seems like it might be overkill.

What is the stats breakdown that everybody else uses?

Oh, and does anybody know if a person has 1000 mind and focus, and 1 willpower, can he or she heal mind? Are the wounds a cost to heal mind, or a consequence/penality of healing minds?

If you have easy access to doc buffs I'd put health and Action at the lowest settings, whatever is left over put into the mind secondaries, if you have any points left, put those into the health/action secondaries. This is a common stat set up for PVPers too as you can heal your health/action with stims but not your own mind.

Thanks for the advice, however that wasn't what I was asking.

Basically, I already have minimized my health and action (primaries and secondaries), and maxed out my mind primaries. I was wondering of the two mind secondaries, focus and willpower, which everybody finds more useful (see thread title). I currently am even split between the two (both at 850), but I was wondering that was fairly arbitrary. I was wondering if anybody had a good argument as to why one was better than the other (given the set up specified in the original post, or maybe your own circumstances)...

So, does anybody feel particularly strongly about the stats breakdown of the mind?

I have 1000 WP and 900 Focus (I'm a human). I went with more willpower because it is needed in combat to counter mind hits. If I use brandy, even without a musician buff, my focus is high enough that I don't notice a mind cost to any healing actions, even with my composite suit on. You reach a point with focus that it is a waste of HAM points to add anymore, at least until you take wounds (like from mind healing). I dueled a MBH who got very frustrated because my mind was healing faster than he could damage it, even spamming eyeshot. He actually thought that I was mind healing myself. It also depends on your other professions though. TKA's burn through mind fast if they don't have high focus.

Here, I'll try to give a more detailed answer for you:

For PvP DEFINITLY go with focus. You'll be wearing armor (or at least a helmet) 95% of the time, and using poisons kicks the crap out of your mind, so you want to use as little as possible.

For PvE, go with willpower, because unlike in PvP, you won't be hitting hard and fast, its a little slower.

Btw, this if for if you're a human ^^^

For all other classes, just max out your mind.
