My toon on starsider just reached 0/0/0/1 Cm (1k away from 0/0/1/1) I must admit, even though I can't poison anything bigger than a chuba, I like this profession so far. I just spent 1 hour last night crafting stims, wound packs, health poisons, etc... (resources are hard to find...and expensive; so I'm broke
)
But I find myself wondering: With the CU right around the corner, and with the big changes to the CM profession, should I even continue to grind out the skills, or just wait until CU comes out?
What do you guys think? What are you doing?

Unless they make some major improvements to the way you get med xp it sounds like you will have a much easier time leveling out CM before the CU hits. But CM post CU appears to be a much different proffesion then what it is now.
Area/ranged heals are gained in the novice medic tree - the CM tree just adds bonuses to them
No area "poisons", instead the "de-buffs" as they call them (basicly attacks to the mind and action bars), And a Health Bleed.
And a Pistol cert when you hit master
No Terrain Negotiation
and of course the armor cert and combat modifiers

Play the game that appeals to you the most. If you enjoy wandering around far away from any man made city and like tossing some of your own made poisons on some critters then continue with the profession. If you are only going to become a CM for the purpose to be given the title as "Master Combat Medic" Then I would suggest against it, because you will find yourself bored very quickly...

As the above posters said, you should do what you see as fun for you. In my case, it's *picking up* CM besides Doc on one of my chars post-curb
.
