Thread: CM x4xx or xxx4?
You're actually better off going full master rifleman. Benefits:
1) 0 mitigation issuses wearing recon (high energy resist) armor
2) Incredible crowd control ability. The area effect of your FT combined with advanced startle shot (daze) and kneecap shot (snare) are great group support. Advanced startle shot also packs a pretty decent punch.
3) Extra general mods. The +15 speed, +30 accuracy, along with the extra ranged and melee defense are all things to consider with master commando as your main template. FT's can't be scoped and lose out on accuracy bonuses therefore requiring as much as they can get their hands on.
4) 65m ranged ability. Want to engage a target at full range? The general mods from commando added to MRifles puts you above what a regular rifleman can do. Additionally there are a number of situations where area effect weapons are a bad bad thing and single target weapons like the advanced laser rifle are best. In group PvP you have the option to switch between those two easily which makes you much more versatile than your average combatant (commandos are murder in PvP base defense).
**You can choose to forego all of this and dedicate yourself to a more soloist template. In that case xxx4 is better as the debuffs are worth more than the DoT's in terms of damage reduction and threat reduction. DoT's for the damage and mind cost aren't exactly all that great.
also means that when wearing recon your only hinderance is a 20% loss in speed. and with the advent of BH missions and the new found boost in the CA market means that a couple of good SEAs and youve negated this disadvantage - or at least lessened it considerably. hell some assault armor is good enough anyway - unless your desperate to engage jedi in pvp.
the loss of 30 accuracy from no master rifle is going to hurt the most i guess. now are 2 CM DoTs or some speed debuffs worth it? my own jury is still out on that one.
