it cant be, you cant ban someone from using the weapons they can use

it will probably be changed as you an poison/disease someone then walk of and they will still die but as long as they remain stackableit will not be a bannable offence (i think/hope)

Not only is it not a banable offence if you read the CM forum it says the devs have stated theat CM is not overpowered and the poison disease stacking will remain.

Depends on how you define a bug.

No. Same thing happens with flamethrowers. Devs are aware this is an issue, just have to wait and see if there is a change.

thanks

No, it is not a bug. In fact, you could conceivable hit the same person, persons, or creatures with 12 effects- Health poison, Health area poison, Health disease, Health area disease, Action Poison, Action area poison, Action disease, Action area disease, Mind poison, Mind Area poison, Mind disease, and Mind area disease.

That's all assuming, of course, that you stay alive long enough to do it.

Most people think that all DoTs (apart from flame) only take you down to 1/1, which is why you get questions like this.

So unless theres a post that says poison/disease is exempt from this DoT rule then I'd say its a bug. Please point me to a developer saying otherwise, or at least when someone asks this question point them to the post - that way people will find out for themselves. Unless no one ever answers properly, people will keep asking. *shrug*

Oh, and as for WHY it does it for anyone wondered (and correct me if I'm wrong):

1) poison takes you down to 1 in the respective HAM
2) wounds (disease) reduce your respective HAM limit
3) therefore a mind pool of 1 that gets a disease tick effectively goes negative since the overall limit has been reduced, i.e:

start: 1000/1000
poisoned: 1/1000
diseased: -49/950

Thats how I understood it anyway, and I *thought* DoTs should end up like:

start: 1000/1000
poisoned: 1/1000
diseased: 1/950
diseased: 1/900
..
..
diseased: 1/1

So I still think its a bug (perhaps an oversight in the coding) - but certainly not an exploit.

As has been said many times on this board, I'd like to point out that poison/disease is a DoT+Wound DoT.

I'd also like to point out that Fire is a DoT+Wound DoT. What is the difference in the two? They will both incap, only we have two put two items on the enemy and they are both consumable.

No difference, its just "DoT" was used too vaguely when they said it won't incap anymore. They should have said that wound DoTs don't follow this change, and will take your bar below 1, but since they never said that everyone presumes they work like any other DoT (but flamethrower is very well known to incap and db, which is why you see that referred to as the only DoT that incaps, and why there is a massive outcry for it to be stopped).

I think the primary factor in this situation is that "regular" DoTs - bleeds and poisons for instance, subtract a fixed amount from the current pool as opposed to the max pool. Now there are a very few "wound" DoTs that subtract from both the current pool as well as the max pool.

Now the question is, given wound DoTs extended length to tick, is it justified that it takes from both the current as well as the max pool? If I have 500/1000 mind and I have a disease put on me, should I just go down to 500/900 mind? Or should it actually do damage to the current level of mind as well, leaving me with 400/900?

When the +1 cap was instituted, it was instituted on "regular" DoTs only and wound DoTs perform as outlined above, thus in combination they incap. It is arguable who has it more difficult- Flamers or Poisons/Diseases, as Flamers suffer much more frequently from missed hits yet the opposition does not see the amount of time and effort we as CMs put into consumable objects like the Poisons/Diseases (which obviously hit more frequently), when we are already a non-revenue generating class.

Even more =) You forgot that diseases can hit alternate stats too. 24 effects. Alternate stat diseases are the true "pure"griefers tool. They don't die but they use MAX HAM and never heal.

Now if you can get someone to stand still long enough, and live long enough to do this... heck I'd be impressed if you could do it on a willing individual. You'd need a team of doctors to heal wounds/health long enough to apply them for the minutes it would take. Would be fun, I challenge anyone to do this!
