I'm a Commando looking for a PvP profession since commandos suck at PvP...and everyone says: TKA, Rifleman, and Combat Medic...

Combat Medic? When I think combat medic, I think a "evil" medic who while in the middle of fighting, can poison...doesnt seem like a PvP profession to me...then it hit me, am I not understanding the profession? Do these poison pack things actually attack like a weapon, and the posion effect is a DoT as like a "burn" or "bleed"?

And CM need medical XP...So you guys get squat XP for actually being in combat?

Thanks the help guys, I really wanted to get this all cleared up

Combat Medics heal in fight with they're lovely ranged heals and pison / desease they're enemies.

The poison and desease are both Over Time effects poison works pretty much like bleed, inficting damage points of a certain type (Health Action Mind). In the other hand desease doesn't make real damange but it creates woulds within an oponent attribute like Mind.

Combat Medic needs combat XP to open (Marksman 0004) and gets Medical XP for each stim lauched as far as I've noticed fixed value for offencive stims and variable value for healing stims depending on how much you heal your mates.

I don't like CM alone in PvP so in my personal opinion u might wanna combine it with a ranged attack profession

Hope it helped you out.

MASTER Rifleman is hands down the single best PvP professon in the game. @ master level you can fire off your specials (like strafe shot - a REALLY nice one) at ONE PER SECOND.

if you combine that with Combat Medic, you could lob an AE mind poison, bleed the minds of your opponents with your rifle and then1 shot kill your opponents as their minds tick down. OR you could just use your Rifle and pick them off one at a time, 3-4 shot killing them if they are not buffed but have armor on, and5-6 shot killing them if they are mind buffed. again, at the master level, we are talking about 5-6 seconds.

this is NOT a cry for a nerf of Rifleman. i havea great amount of respect for Master Riflemen. i have tried TWICE to make it to Master and have failed TWICE because the road is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO long and hard and IMHO boring. i have had a MUCH worse time trying to get to Master Rifleman than i have had on my way to Master TKA if that gives you any idea of how long the grind is.

if you want to combine Combat Medic with pistol for health bleeds / health poisons, personally i would suggest getting 0/0/4/0 in Smuggler for the Low Blow and Last Ditch pistol attacks. Pistols, even GREAT Krayt pistols will NEVER do the damage a Rifle does. they are not supposed to... they are pistols.

but this is all just my $0.02

ooohhh, so you get med. xp from using the packs on people, that makes sense, thanks for clearing that up

I just became a TKA, would TKA/CM make a good PvP template?

i had a TKA / Master Combat Medic. the problem you will run into is you CANNOT master both professions because of the line you have to take in Marksman to get combat medic...

this may not bother some people, but these two professions in particular are really only worth having if you are going to master them. MANY MANY MANY would say that you can take parts of TKA and be an effetive fighter, or that you can just take 4/0/0/4 in combat medic (the lines that allow you to use the most effective medicines, poisons and diseases) but then you hamstring yourself on range, speed, effectiveness and crafting. so PERSONALLY i dropped combat medic because of the time and effort it took to find the resources to craft Combat Meds. there are 5 times more things one needs (all of them rare, and some have never even spawned on a couple of galaxies) to craft Combat Meds than to craft Doctor Meds.

wow, i am coming off all doom and gloom. i do not mean to. i LOVED the Combat Medic profession, and if they fix the resource issue, i will come back to it in an instant.

give TKA / CM a try. it was fun throwing a poison, be it a mind or a health poison, at a mob, then using that DoT in combination with TK skills to finish the fight. TKA has no DoT (Damage Over Time - like bleeds) of its own, so if you combine it with CM you can have your cake and eat it too (to a point).

hope all this helps a little

Well, I'm only looking at CM from the PvP view...I already have Commando as my PvE profession, and I have TKA as well, using that as my PvP profession...and yes I realize I wouldnt be able to master them both, I would only be "dabbling" in it.

I think I'm going to test Rifleman and TKA, decide which I like better, than combine whatever I decide with CM.

I'm MCM/TKA 4404 and I love it. Meditation line helps greatly with curing my own poisons diseases and even Mind wounds for when I use /healmind. Powerboost is a great ability for a CM to have as well and Force of Will just plain rocks. The Balance line is great as it gives melee mitigation and KD2. Use a KD2, warcry, poison and disease on someone and by the time the dizzy wears off they are pretty much useless. The Precision line gives you great bonuses to defense and accuracy along with ability to do damage to specific pools. Also the unarmedheadhit1 which is great to use with mind poisons. I didn't bother with the Power line as I use my poisons to do the majority of the damage.

If you want to really start with CM then by all means start looking for resorces. Don't wait untill you want to start training, it sometimes takes months untill our resorces spawn. From all resorces we need keep the lookout for the folowing:

Mineral:
Titanium Aluminum
Class 1 Radioaktive

Chemical:
Yavinian Fiberplast
Class Two liquid Petrol Fuel

Gas:
Eleeton Reactive gas
Tolium Reactive gas

Food:
Insect meat
Fungi

You can go ahead and buy Insect meat and Fungi if you only use the poisons for your self. You don't need much of them. But the rest can be hard to find and very expesinve if you buy it from others. Realy hard to find is usually Class 1 Radioaktiv... although I have witnessed 2 spawns on Gorath (in the last 4 months :/ ).

Hope that helps you later, when making your own poisons =)
