Thread: Master Pistoleer w/ CM & Doctor skills, will it work?
I amplaying SWG with my girlfriend, she isplanning tobe aMaster Pistoleer, with Combat Medic (Rng-Heal Distance 4, Rng-Heal Spd 3,CMSupport 4, no CM Med craft) & Doctor ( only Doc Med Knowledge 4).
I would liek to hear some advices from you guys. Will this work? Speciallyfor PvP.I knowshe won't be crafting anyCM & Doc medines herself, have to rely on other medic crafters. And she is missing the Scout's Exploration skill, but that's too expensive (another 29 skill points needed...)
Will theRng-Healing lines from CM also helps Doctor'sheal & buffs? To make her be able to do a large heal & buff in far distance?
Is healing self useful in PvP? Or its just a waste of time from droping shooting enemy & burning mindpower?
I myself working on Master Pistoleer & Master Creature Handler, with a little Medic skills. Do the Doctor's buffs useful for my pets? Having extra 800-1000HAM on myself is a good improvement, but having extra 1000HAM on my pets which have already over 10000HAM isn't too impressive.
Andanybody knows why we don't get any medic exp from healing pet's dmg? We get exp from healing pet's wound, but never dmg...
Thanks in advance for all you useful comments.

Range only affects ranged stims, poisons/diseases and area stims.

Healing yourself in PVP doesn't burn up much mind, depends on your stats with focus and willpower though.

You can use the doctor buffs on pets. The Health and Action buffs aren't too necessarry but the secondary stat buffs can help alot. Buffing Constitution and Stamina will help them regen the H and A pools faster.
Andanybody knows why we don't get any medic exp from healing pet's dmg? We get exp from healing pet's wound, but never dmg...
This was a recent nerf from SOE to ensure healers didn't level too fast.
If the only reason you plan to go CM is to heal yourself in PVP, then don't bother with CM and just put more points into Doc. Ranged heals are pointless if you are going to be healing yourelf. And unless you plan on using poisons then really no point in using points in CM.
However, if you plan to only put points into Doc knowledge and buy the enhance packs, you will need a minimum of 0.2.3.0 skills applied in Doctor.
I'm currently running with: Master Pistoleer: Combat Medic 4/3/0/4: Doctor 0/4/0/0
I dropped master combat medic to get revive and was hoping to be able to use enhance packs with some clothing I purchased weeks ago that would up my medicine use skill. I've since learned that the clothes will not work and I'm feeling that the revive skill isn't really worth the 20 skill points I have into it now, so I'm probably going to go back to Master CM.
I think going for the Doctor's Knowledge branch is kind of silly if you're not going to pick up the cure poison or heal enhance skills as you will only be able to heal wounds more quickly. As I am now, I can get 150 wounds in one shot easily, which heals me fully 95% of the time.

You said you were master CH, so you don't need the exp, but for novice CHs, a 1200 Action and Health buff on their low level pet that they use for exp is a big deal.
As someone else said, buffs to secondary regen stats can mean you don't have to heal the pets nearly as much. Of course if you can buff the pet, you can heal them quickly anyway.

For PVP as a cm you want Master CM or nothing at all. Our poisions damagei s largely based o our combat medic effectiveness, with receiveing i think 25 points at master this can seriously gimp her ability to dish out poision daamge and restricts her to single target poisions. The Aoe B's that she can use do at most 130 damage.
Will theRng-Healing lines from CM also helps Doctor'sheal & buffs? To make her be able to do a large heal & buff in far distance?
No she will only be able to use ranged heals from a distance, and can not buff at a distance. A cm's ranged heals can do around 1.5k or so.
Is healing self useful in PvP? Or its just a waste of time from droping shooting enemy & burning mindpower?
Ive found that healing is good in pvp however i rarely shoot and i mostly throw poisions/diseases.

With Commando and BH's doing crazy damage 7-8k a shot against pets, most pets are worthless, unless they have very good resists to heat and elecrticy with some ar. Doc buffs can give your pet an xtra 2k at the highest levels in all 6 stats. While it may not seem impressive right now think of have the secondary stats all buffed by 1-2k that pet will regen mighty fast, as well you as a player. youll find that most commando are very new to the profession and only care about using the FT. Imo the Ft needs to be berfed anyway, the mere concept that a person can run at fuyll speed and fire a FT is stupid, not to mention the FT having a max range of 64m.

I disagree a bit with what other people have said, in that you have to have master CM. Tier 4 CM support will give you access to single throw Poison/Disease C's which are powerfull and a great tool for PvP. It will also alow the use of Area Poison B's, which if crafted well, can be quit powerfull as well.
As for missing the Scout skills, CM should be gettinga huge boost in terrain negotiation in the next big patch. Upwards of +50 at master! So dont worry about that.
Will theRng-Healing lines from CM also helps Doctor'sheal & buffs? To make her be able to do a large heal & buff in far distance?
No, as mentioned, ony ranged stims/poisons will use the range modifier.
Is healing self useful in PvP? Or its just a waste of time from droping shooting enemy & burning mindpower?
Its quite usefull, but healing yourself does not require being a CM or a Doc. A master Medic with a Stim D can heal just as much damage as a Master Doc/CM with the same Stim D. Master Docs are only better at wound healing, and Master CMs are only better at distance damage healing and group healing. Master Docs dont get any damage modifiers in their skill tree, and CMs ranged stims are a bit of a waste when used on yourself.

You answered your own question thereI believe.
Andanybody knows why we don't get any medic exp from healing pet's dmg? We get exp from healing pet's wound, but never dmg...
It was seen as an exploit and removed. Dont expect it back in the game anytime real soon.
Thanks in advance for all you useful comments.
Your Welcome
Thanks all for your useful opinions. After reading your comments, & having a bit more ideas on the Doctor & Combat Medic skills,We arenow planning for:
* Master Pistoleer *(for having a good fighting ability)
* Combat Medic * with...
Range-Heal-Distance '2' (to have a 'okay' medic range, better medic effectiveness, & able to disease)
CM Support '4' (to be able to use the 2nd best CM medicines)
* Doctor * with...
Adv-Wound-Treatment-Spd '2' (for cure poision)
Adv-Wound-Treatment '2' (for enchance other people & pet)
Doc-Medicine-Knowledge '4' (to be able to use the 2nd best Doc medicines)
And nowwe have more questions
(sorry)
1) As a CM, do you use your weapons often? Or like some of you said, a CM mainly use poisons & disease for battle? I thought poison/disease as like Dot, you start with it, then shooting with pistolafter the posion landed & ticking. Does a CM usually spam poison for killing? If that so,we might consider drop Pistol & go for Master CM for skill points wise.
2) With range'2', what would be my healing & poisoningdistance around? & what determine the range of healing & poisoning? Only my skills or the status of medicine also helps?
3) Does the Range-Heal-Spd only affect the re-use timer? Not apply time? Is the range-heal & poison applying time just works instantly like normal stimpacks?
4) What kind of poison dmgwe can look for withthis trainings?
5) Some of you mentioned CM will get a boost of Terrain Negotiation, any idea what +skill I will get with my trainings? At the moment, I saw CM only +10 when mastered...
6) Must I have 'Cure Poison' to cure my & other's poison? Is this skill useful? How long does poison last? If this is not an essential skill, will I be better-offto dump it, get 'Revive' & 'Rng-Heal-Dis 3' instead?
7) How much echancement around I am look for with 'Doc-Medicine-Knowledge 4'?
I heard either Commando & BH are very powerful, in fact, we made Novice BH & Commando a little while ago but we surrendered the skills, these 2 classes seems a little boring for us, only shoot - shoot & more shooting... And if they are really over-powered, Heaven knows when thenerf-bat will come & change the whole story. We would rather to play with some classes which have more varieties inboth PvE & PvP gameplay. I believe my Master CH will stand some chance with them anyway? Or do I?? Still a Novice CH at the moment, so I don't have much idea on the PvP end game...
We don't go for Master CM or Doc, because we want a good anytime avialable buffs, but no interest in having an uber wound heals. So we pick CM too, to have some CM skills will help the dmg output a little (we hope) along with her pistol, andsoon with extra bonus on Terrain Negotiation (I pray it will be true...), that is even better. For the skill point sake, we think this is the best investment.
I wish her char will not only be a good self-supported, but also a good supporter for my Pistoleer/CHin both PvE & PvP. Do you think this char will fit that role?
Please don'tbe hesitate to share your ideas, I want to be more educated. Any of your comments are great help for us. Thanks again.
(P.S. Sorry for my English if its confusing, its not myfirst language...)

You pretty much HAVE to use some other ranged weapon, unless the hardest thing you fight are Durnis. And "spamming" poison will get you nothing but having to craft more poison packs sooner, as i have never noticed any benefit from applying poison more than once. I tend to use health poison packs and pistol/healthshot2 combo for PvE
2) With range'2', what would be my healing & poisoningdistance around? & what determine the range of healing & poisoning? Only my skills or the status of medicine also helps?
CM meds all have a range attribut to them, and I believe the way it works is the same as figuring out poison damage. The formulawould besomething like (but I dont know if this is exact):
(1 + .(healing range) X medicine range value)
So if you were range 2, you would have a modifier of +35, which in my above equation would be 1.35. If you used a PoisonC with a baserange of say 25m, then the equation would be:
(1.35 X 25m) = 33.75m
3) Does the Range-Heal-Spd only affect the re-use timer? Not apply time? Is the range-heal & poison applying time just works instantly like normal stimpacks?
What do you mean apply time? Do you mean the time between ticks on a poison? Then no, speed does not modify that, it only decreases the time between throws.
4) What kind of poison dmgwe can look for withthis trainings?
Depends on what level poison your using, who made them, and what components were used. 400 damage per tick might not be unexpected from a top of the line poison C.
5) Some of you mentioned CM will get a boost of Terrain Negotiation, any idea what +skill I will get with my trainings? At the moment, I saw CM only +10 when mastered...
Right now on the Test Center, its +50 at master, so you would only get +40 at CM Support 4.
6) Must I have 'Cure Poison' to cure my & other's poison? Is this skill useful? How long does poison last? If this is not an essential skill, will I be better-offto dump it, get 'Revive' & 'Rng-Heal-Dis 3' instead?
Its only usefull if your going to be in situations where someone might poiuson you, or you go hunting on Endor/Yavin/Dathomir. My most powerfull mind Poison C will come close to incaping a player 3 times in a row with one application unless they have a doc cure it or very high mind stats.
7) How much echancement around I am look for with 'Doc-Medicine-Knowledge 4'?
Dunno, 500-1500. ITs probably better to ask the dedicated Doctors.
As a follow-up
Be prepared to spend a lot of time andmoney on gathering resources for crafting/buying your meds, especially if you want top of the line poison C's with advanced components.

Shrug I only ever use my pistol for Suppression, Threaten or Health Shot. In PVE I toss in AE health or single health if it's one tough mob we are fighting. In PVP I use mind poison then run as quickly as I can out of the other guys range, while at the same time stimming myself. One successful application of poison and it's Adios Muchata, no need to spam poison.
2) With range'2', what would be my healing & poisoningdistance around? & what determine the range of healing & poisoning? Only my skills or the status of medicine also helps?
About 15-25m I think depending on the quality of the meds you use. You won't see that much of a bonus in range until the higher levels.
3) Does the Range-Heal-Spd only affect the re-use timer? Not apply time? Is the range-heal & poison applying time just works instantly like normal stimpacks?
Ranged Stims, Poison Application, Disease Application, AE Stims and Regular Stims all use the same /healdamage timer. The speed in ranged heals is something I have yet to figure out myself, I even read somewhere it was broken...anyone care to comment on that?
4) What kind of poison dmgwe can look for withthis trainings?
Level As mostly until your support line gets to 3 or better then you should start being able to use B class poisons.
5) Some of you mentioned CM will get a boost of Terrain Negotiation, any idea what +skill I will get with my trainings? At the moment, I saw CM only +10 when mastered...
Word on the Test center is we will get a bonus of +10 TN per level of support with a max of 50+
6) Must I have 'Cure Poison' to cure my & other's poison? Is this skill useful? How long does poison last? If this is not an essential skill, will I be better-offto dump it, get 'Revive' & 'Rng-Heal-Dis 3' instead?
You have to have Cure Poison ability to cure ANYONESpoison, including your own. Poison can last a few minutes, no one has really bothered to test duration that I have seen. If you are going to dump applying poison, then just dump the whole CM line altogether. There is no point in wasting your points there when you could be better off with more points spent in Doctor. Ranged Heals are nice but unless you have the CM support skills to use the Ranged D or Es you will have to buy to get the best range, then you are not maximizing your skills.
7) How much echancement around I am look for with 'Doc-Medicine-Knowledge 4'?
I think I understand your question to be "How much can I enhance for with Doc Knowledge 4?" Even with Doc Knowledge 3 at +80 Med Useyou can use Enhance Ds which average 75 Med Use. These packs will determine how much you can enhance for. The ones I make are typically 750 base/32 charge/10462 duration/75 skill.
I heard either Commando & BH are very powerful, in fact, we made Novice BH & Commando a little while ago but we surrendered the skills, these 2 classes seems a little boring for us, only shoot - shoot & more shooting... Shrug don't know how a CH fares against a BH or Commando, but as a Doc/CM I can hold my own in PVP aganst them even though I don't have any Elite Combat skills.
We don't go for Master CM or Doc, because we want a good anytime avialable buffs, but no interest in having an uber wound heals. If you are trying to make the end all uber self supportive template, you will end up getting bored imho.Personally I find it rewarding that with my template I can be the most versatile healer and in my own unique way add to the damage output while not being a traditional damage dealer. When all is said and done at the end of the fight, the party doesn't thank the BH who spammed Eyeshot, the Smuggler who FeignDeath/Lowblowed, the CH who sent in his pets, or the Armorsmith who made the armor we use. They thank the healers who kept them going through the fight.
