Hello,

I have been a Master Combat Medic for almost four months now and really enjoy this profession. I recently saw a posting on another forum where the author stated that ranged stimpacks and mindheal are worthless. This is not my experience - especially in PVE. With Area C stimpacks and wise use of mind heal, i can keep a group of 10 members healthy and in the fight for MUCH longer than they would otherwise be able. If fact, i get rather upset when i lose even one member of the group.

I would be very interested in what are your opinions on the healing abilities of CM in combat situtations.

Thank you and best regards,

I tend to agree, but with a couple of caveats.

Current range on stims seems to be bugged a bit, so they cannot be thrown as far as they should be.

/mindHeal is really must be use VERY reservedly and I think that it currently just costs too much in the way of wounds to be as useful as it should be.

That being said, however, the first issue is really just a bug, so once that is fixed we're all good. The second issue will likely be a non-issue within a few short months because the combat revamp will, effectively, remove the entire reason we were not allowed to heal mind the the first place. With the exploit removed, mind damage healing should be just like health and action, so our stims will likely be once again allowed toheal all 3 pools then, instead of just the 2 they do now.

This hasn't been my experience either. As a Master Doc/Master CM I can keep a group of 4 people alive while hunting Enraged Rancors on Dathomir. I would consider that to be pretty impressive. One thing I REALLY like about area stimpacks is the ability to heal pets without having to "waste a charge". Heal the pet and everyone else gets healed as well. I think tonight I'm going to get a group together to hunt voritors and see how things go while doing that. It seems like everyone always ends up dying while doing these missions so I'm going to try my hand at keeping these guys alive while doing these missions!

Thanks,

I do a lot of PVP and have saved many lives with the mind heals! For example me and 6 others took on an imp base of 30+ imps and one ATST. We managed to kill all of them and not die once! I used mindheal about 6 times and a few area heals. I was obviously under the influence of Muon, and when I came out of it I was very wounded, but who cares if we accomplished a mission which we would not otherwise of been able to. We were heading back to the city anyways so I just sat at the cantina for a few minutes and got healed.

I believe the mind heal is one of the best reasons to be a CM. No other profession can do it!

Thanks,

I see that my experiences seem to be correct. Thanks for your input. When people think Master Combat Medic, they always think poison/disease first, but the areas stims (i agree 100% on healing for pets) and mindheal really make a MCM an especially valuable part of a combat team.

Best regards,

Nobody is really saying ranged and area heals are useless - just that they aren't worth 169 skill points. They are wonderful in PvE, but a group can get by with just a master doctor as long as they are reasonably careful.
