At a 10 to 1 conversion, that be a lot of trips to the village.

Hi all! Bear with me - I've never done combat medic before, but I'm planning on switching to some form of CM/swordsman in the next couple weeks.

My question is this: how will combat medic experience fit into the force sensitive conversion? I copied this thing below from test center forums, but I'm not seeing where combat med XP fits into the picture. It's probably just my noob-ness, but I'd appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction.

4. XP conversion
So you have to undertake quests to unlock each FS line. After you do this you will spend a special sort of FS experience on the lines that you have unlocked. Each tree has its own sort of experience: FS combat xps, FS reflex xps, FS sense xps and FS crafting xps. To obtain these xps you will need to convert experience that you already have from your normal professions. This can be done through the NPC Paemos. Each sort of FS experience can be converted to from several different experience types. Combat and Reflexes xps are obtained from weapons xps (2h, rifles, etc.), combat xps, Bounty Hunter investigation and Squad Leader xps. Crafting xps can be obtained from all crafting experiences. Sense xps are obtained from everything else. When last checked BE xps and Slicing xps were the only xps that could not be converted.

When you convert you turn in some number of regular xps that you have earned and saved up and you gain some fraction of that in FS xps. The ratios of exchange were recently changed (most were tripled). Here are current known exchange rates (I'll add the rest in as I can -- if you have CURRENT data let me know):

Combat & Reflex XPs

  • Weapons xps -- 30->1

  • Combat xps -- 3->1

  • Squad Leader xps -- ?->1

Crafting XPs

  • Medicine Crafting -- 5->1

  • General Crafting -- 8->1

  • Spice Crafting -- 5->1

Sense XPs

  • Image Design xps -- 15->1

  • Dancing xps -- 10->1

  • Musician xps -- 10->1

  • Entertainer Healing xps -- 10->1

  • Scout xps -- 8->1

  • Trapping xps -- 15->1

  • Survival xps -- 5->1

  • Medical xps -- 10->1

  • Surveying xps -- ?->1

Note that these just changed and who knows -- they may change again.

Example: Say I want to learn FS Combat Prowess Novice which costs 50,000 FS combat experience. I have 900k 2h experience and 90k combat experience saved up from fighting whatever. I can go to Paemos and convert those into FS combat experience. The 900k 2h experience will convert into 30,000 FS Combat xps. The 90k combat xps can also convert into 30,000 FS Combat xps. I can then learn the novice box and have 10,000 points left over to spend later. To then start learning Melee Accuracy I I will first have to do a quest to unlock that branch and then obtain 165k more FS combat xps.

CMs probably have the fastest way to get the XP to convert. Expecially those with melee.. Tap an enranged rancor lair and spam area poisons until cap. one area attack to complete the lair. Go back to village, convert, repeat. For those that don't like the rancor roller coaster, there are verns on Dath as well that would suffice for this but they are hardly as much fun.

even if you do spam area poison on a er mission, you can cap it yes, but when convert it its only 8k of fs points, thats why im a little concerned about grinding fs skills with cm

Ask if they can change conversion rate.

eeeewwww....if you used your poison to spam that would be 153.125 conversions to get 1 whole line.... I'm game.

Anyone know if there is a FS xp cap?? That would kinda suck if there was....

I've asked for a raising of our xp cap or a lowering of the ratio. Will let you know if I get any word back.

The medical xp conversion to force sensitive-sense xp is grossly unbalanced at this point. Just doing a few estimates demonstrates this easily.

Assumptions:
For the sake of argument, assume that an elite combat profession can earn 150k of weapon xp and 15k of combat xp an hour and that a doctor can earn 60k of medical xp an hour.

Conversion to Force Sensitive XP:
Combat: (150k weapon xp / 30) + (15k combat xp /3) = 10k fs xp (combat or reflexes)
Current Medical (10:1): 60k medical xp / 10 = 6k of fs xp (Sense)
Proposed Medical (6:1): 60k of medical xp / 6 = 10k of fs xp (Sense)

Time to Master One Force Sensitive Branch (1,225,000 fs xp):
Combat: 1,225k / 10k = 122.5 hours
Current Medical: 1225k / 6k = 204.2 hours
Proposed Medical: 1225k / 10k = 122.5 hours

So the elite combat player can earn 10k of fs xp /hour. Currently, a doctor can earn only 6k of fs xp an hour. To balance the ratio of medical xp conversion would need to be changed to 6 to 1 rather than the current 10 to 1.

Experience Limits:
Combat: 900k / 150k = 6 hours before cap
Current Medical: 80k / 60k = 1.3 hours before cap
Proposed Medical: 360k / 60 = 6 hours before cap

Currently, an elite combat player can gain experience for 6 hours before reaching their experience limit and a doctor can only gain experience for 1 hour and 20 minutes. To balance, the limit of medical experience would need to be raised to 360k.

Side Effect:
This also shows that experience requirements for skills in the doctor profession are too low. The 4th skill block of an elite weapon profession cost 450k and would take 3 hours at the 150k/hour rate. To balance, the 4th block of the Doctor profession should be 180k rather than 60k.

Actually, I think the Heightened Senses tree will be the easiest of all. You can cap medic XP by tossing area poison on a lair in what, 5 minutes?

The Kitten's Diary, Day 781: I have discovered a most delightful way of making life miserable for my captors. Yesterday, I ate the woman's precious begonia, and today I have dismembered the amaryllis in the bedroom window. She is furious over the loss of her darling house plants! I find it highly gratifying.

Then I guess Combat Medic have it better than Doctors but don't worry, I won't start screaming "Nerf the CM"!
